whatb sort of advice is this exactly

    The thuka ones are cool.....

but would your 15 & 11 yr olds share bunks still?

When my girls were lil ( last time they shared a room the elder was 9 )they'd complain if the other one moved and they could feel the bed tense... they're so much better in separate spaces xx

I dont envy you two ( near ) teens in one room, it's gonna cause all kindsa trouble and arguments.

Thuka bunks are really solid and hardwearing xx

for good solid bunks you will pay alot, i paid i think about £500 for mine, and that wasnt bunks just a high sleeper, but it did my daughter from age of 7 to 11 and now son has had it 2 years, it is solid

I was thinking 500 sounds cheap for good bunks so you may wanna just check out the stores closest to you... I've seen big thick pine bunks in the local furniture stores for like 250 without the mattresses xx

could your brother or whoever not slepp on a blow up bed, or do you not have space, even if in lounge, you wont get good qulaity bunks cheap, and for the ages they are needed cheap flimsey ones will be no good, at least one of those big blow up beds could be used whenever needed once brother left, think they range from about £50 onwards and dead comfy

£500 sounds cheap, but you seen them for £250 :thinking:

I have] these bunk beds for my girls. A friend bought them as well, on my recommendation, for her boys. They are white, but not girly at all. They are sturdy and well made.
Adults haven't slept on the top bunk, but the bottom bunk has been used by adult visitors (daughter had to give her bed up).

my brother is here with me for the forseeable i'm afraid so its not a blow up bed situation and my eldest son has decided he wants to live with me all the time now so its trying to fit all four of us in 3 bedrooms

I was thinking of the name brands big bunks with desks and wardrobes etc attached like Thuka, stomp as thats what Waterloo stated. Bob wont get those for under several hundred, but a basic pine job you can get for much cheaper from a local furniture place if thats what he's looking for.

well after the decent comments here i'm now thinking i'll have to get the tape measure out and go for singles

Also, think on the weight of your boys... my girls dont weigh more than 6/7 stone but my son is like 6 ft 2... I'd hate to have to put him in a bunk bed, I'd be scared it wouldnt hold him.

How bout giving the two boys the largest room and downsizing yourself so they can still have their beds they have now but to either side of the room?

i know it may be cramped, but i would seriously advise against bunks, for those age groups, especially as money is tight, not quite sure what your arrangements are, but 4 people into a 3 bed house shouldnt cause you problems, most have two big rooms and one small, juggle it around

@ waterloo. I have reported you. Your comments and behaviour are exactly the kind of thing that make HUKD a not very nice place these days. Why not just stay out of a thread like this if you are not prepared to be helpful.
Your original three word post would have sounded so much more grown up if you had said something like " Perhaps you could try beds by (insert your three words). They are known for their quality products."
    Just a suggestion.

You'll just all have to muck in together for a while

It'll all be fine in the end xx

Are the two kids used to sharing their space at all? If so I'd go for them sharing a room... but not the bunks, single beds side by side, if at all possible Bunks are fine say with a 5 and 7 yr old... but for teens, they'd be a bit of a nightmare!

My girls are like hamsters.... best off just one single one in a single cage.... lol or they fight like cat and dog.

You'll get the attitude from the 15 yr old anyway... it's his age and obviously moving in with you and all the other difficulties he must have been through to get to that point in the situation...

and dont think the 11 yr old wont copy his big brother either... you'll get the same words coming out of his mouth soon enough too so keep it all under control right from the start or you'll be battling every day soon enough!

Families are never "ideal" but it's just a matter of people who love each other need to be together isnt it.

And kudos to you for being a hero in need for your brother and a Dad for your kids xxx
