If you are converting AVI's then either DVD Santa or WinAVI

ConvertXtoDVD quickest & best by far if your looking for an easy to use convertor.

You cant burn DVD's via Windows media player. I used to use ConvertXtoDVD, very good programme. It converts the file and then burns to disc automatically. However if you have a DIVX player you can burn them in about 2 minutes and play them

I know a few people who use ConverXtoDVD

Yeah I'd try ConvertX before trying Santa, Santa is not great it usually does films out of sync or with green lines, thats if it even does them at all lol. ConvertX seems to convert most things with no trouble at all.

Depends on PC, but using ConvertX 90 mins for a 90 min film on a reasonable spec PC, 45 mins for a 90 min film on a decent spec PC

To be honest, it better to select automatic (Setting > General > TV Format) if you haven't had a lot of experience with the program which is the program's default.

Definitely use either ConvertXtoDVD or WinAvi, they are the best for general use, for more advanced users check out TMPGEnc DVD Author or Cinema Craft Encoder

Cheers mate, just re-installed OS so I'm a bit bare anyway.....
Any DVD cloning tools you can recommend? My mates told me about SuperDVDClone......

Probably the easiest (and possibly the best) to use is DVDFab Platinum, it'll do a rip and burn straight to disc or to HDD, with or without DVD extras, the only downside with it (and all the others to be fair) is that you have to update it periodically to bypass any new forms of the Across DVD protection that come out.

I use 1click DVD copy, very easy to use, as the name suggests just 1 click, though I use it along side the free DVD43. Piece of cake and usually take around 20 to 30 minutes from start to finnish.

I got mine on a 30 day free trial and then paid I think around 39 dollars.

*cough*Demonoid*Cough*

Sometimes getting software for free is just not worth the hassle, ruined discs etc.

Do people still pay for software?

Great well if I don't need to pay, I need the latest updates including speed camera's for my Tom Tom and it needs to be easy to install?? anyone??

]DVD43 works in the same way as anydvd but free....

yeah it works very well and no need to do anything, it detects when you put a DVD into your drive and it does it's stuff automatically and very quick.

download iso files or dvd files and just burn no converting needed and it is dvd quality every time

I don't even bother making DVDs anymore, I just download the AVI stick it on a USB and play it on my PS3!

Thanks.. I'll give it a try.. I've got a samsung ht-x250 and its got a few different modes to choose from..

I did try and get it to play music off a ipod and I couldn't manage that so there is a high possibility that I can't do this either.. I'll have to wait for my boy to come in from school to sort it out for me...:)

It'll play Divx/AVI files, at least from disc anyway

All a quick google about the USB port brings up is

What that means is anybody's guess. It would be weird to fit a USB port to a DivX enabled DVD player and not allow it to play those files through it.

Thanks barneydog.. I'll give it a try.. How much memory would a average film take?

Perhaps it's for photo's..
