Hi all

I am upgrading my Ebay account from a private seller to a business seller. I need a business address, and don't want to use my current Ebay address because it is my parent's.

I've looked at a few companies offering business addresses in London for a monthly fee, but i'm trying to figure which ones are reliable and trustworthy.

Has anyone got any recommendations?

The business address should be your home address, using a PO BOX is very untrustworthy. I know big companies use them, but not small fry like yourself.

I have traded with 136 on ebay and 11 on here, no one has come over to beat me up or torch my house so I think it's fair to say it's safe to give out your home address.

You have 3 months from the date you start the business, it doesnt have to be done immediately

I'm not after a PO BOX address, it's possible to get a standard mailing address (used by many different people). It will be a large ebay business so really need a different address

Looks interesting, and affordable compared with other things i've seen.WIll check it out, many thanks:thumbsup:

I realise that you might not want to use your parents house, but you could just use your ebay name, or business name, and it will keep the mail seperate.
eg. Kurv Int. Ltd.
As for HMRC, as mentioned, you don't need to register straight away, and also, you need to earn over a certaim amount before paying any tax.
eg. You have been unemployed for a year, your current tax code is 574L, you can earn £5740 before HRMC will be interested.
Don't listen to Deb8z! She spends all her money on shoes, what does she know really....?

Thanks, just dont want a bad customer sending the heavies round because the teapot he ordered is the wrong shade of pink. I will get a business address though, the folks are paranoid about this kind of stuff.

Yeah I think I will be OK, because I am am technically unemployed(but not claiming), and have earned under that threshold

I've also done the "technically unemployed bit" and not claimed, but you are entitled to it, and they pay your stamps which will help if you and this country survive long enough to get your pension!

The bru is a nightmare, but sign on and get your money. They also have courses which will be available to you for free, while you are signing on and selling online. You don't need to tell the bru that you are using ebay to make a few extra quid, and the tax man will not be interested until over 5 grand, and on ebay, that will be a long way away!

There may even be some local courses that will help you set up your own business, should you decide that's what you want to do. There will also be grants available.

Don't f**k the system, play it and use it for what it is, there to help those that need it

Doesn't matter if you're making money etc,you still have to register, are you suggesting people don't need to register Rehydrated, because that's incorrect:?

I'm just suggesting that he doesn't worry about it. He doesn't need to do it right away. After 2 months he might decide that he doesn't want to sell on ebay, and after fees and costs, might only have made 200 quid. That being the case, resgistering would have been a waste of time.

Are you one of they people that actually believe that the TV detector vans can tell if you are watching a tv that doesn't have a licence? :w00t:

Worst case scenario, he doesn't register and sells on ebay for a year, and after costs makes £2000, even if, say for talking sake, someone like you dobs him in, he still hasn't earned enough to be eligible for paying or owning any tax. (that plus his 2000 odd quid in benefit might still be less than his tax code, eg. 5- - L = over £5000)

I think the OP was asking for advice about an address and selling on ebay. I have given him what little information I know about this. I am not trying to cripple him before he can walk...
