Buying 2nd hand new Xbox series x warranty question help

Posted 17th Dec 2020
Hi can anyone help, I’ve got no chance of buying my lad an series x Xbox from any shops now before Christmas but I’m happy To pay £100 more of a private seller (or not really but I’ll do it so I can make his Christmas)
The seller has the receipt from game and it’s all boxed and sealed.
If it has any probs would I be able to take it back to game for warranty etc?
Any advice would be great as £550 is ally of money for something that may have no warranty if there are any issues😯

Given it was only released in November I'm sure Microsoft (and likewise Sony for PS5) would cover the warranty if you said it was a gift.

Also missed the bit where you said the receipt was available so that's been better. (edited)

If it’s purchased by card then the card will be reimbursed not you.

Statory consumer rights (ie from the shop) are not transfered when gifted or sold on. Most manufacturer warranties are transferable.

I’ve gotten around this simply by saying I no longer have that card because I lost my wallet, got given cash instead, problem solved.
