What’s the deal with buying access to a VPN from eBay?

Loads of sellers offering lifetime access to the big name VPNs e.g. Nord VPN, Surf Shark for £3 or less (no subscription required).

Does anyone understand where these logins are sourced?

Cheers!:{

    Wouldn't risk it if I was you.

    Too cheap so why would you? Probably free trials with stolen cards or others logins etc... not the best way to secure your own data??

    They're either selling login information stolen from somewhere (NordVPN did have a huge data breach last year...) or they're buying one account for, say, £30 a year and then charging 100 people £1 each to access it to turn a profit. Either way, you risk losing access to the account because it's not yours, someone else could change the login details or the company could close the account. It's not a lot of money to lose but I don't see why anyone would bother when you could get a NordVPN subscription with a high rate of cashback from Quidco - they're doing 75% at the moment, so you could effectively get 2 years for £16. Recently they were doing 100% so if that ever comes back you could get it for free!

    On the flip side of that. Your data is no safer buying from the actual vpn website because your details will be sold on eBay :/

    you will have it for one month, then you’ll get a message saying your trial is over

    Nord is frequently free after quidco cashback as are lots of others.

    No reason to get a cracked account.

    Thanks guys. Appreciate your advice. Will pay for Surf Shark via TCB which works out at £11.49 for 2 years (assuming it tracks).
