bought a car last year, you can't inspect the cars too much when you get there, take a mechanic and he'll jump in the car when it's rolling up to the auction plate like my mate did

remember that the auction price doesn't include the fees so take that into consideration

Some places let you check over the car in the days before the auction but not on day of sale. Buyer beware but fleet sale (Motability) is one of the best/safest to buy

Remember the price you bid has to have fees on top. I bidded at £1800 and had to pay about £200 on top for fees if I remember correctly. Motability cars are a good choice to get because they have to have a service every year, just check for wheelchair dents etc. You will need to go down to a DVLA office though to change the tax category if you get a motability vehicle.

BCA aint so bad actually. They do have their fees but best bet is to take someone with you to inspect the car there and then. The car auctions up here in Glasgow are quite good and you can pick up a really good bargain too!

Take photos of the car after purchase! We bought a Mercedes estate without any rear bumper damage. When we went to collect it, it had been damaged and it was impossible for us to prove that the damage had occurred after the auction. BCA were adamant that it was not their fault, nor their responsibility because it had become our responsibility the moment we won the auction lot. Our insurance company was not too delighted to have a claim made on it a few hours after having taken out the insurance!

What makes you think they don't?

Go for ex fleet cars with warranted mileage. Dealers old sh*te also go in these auctions, so beware.
