    Buying shares online, best place?

Looking to buy some shares, but only a low amount about £50. Where is the best place to buy some?

Can you buy a low amount like that? Also what are the fees etc like?

When I was with Barclays, the price for the firm to buy the shares was £20 plus 2% tax online, over the phone is £50 fee, then with some there is inactivity fees etc. Think personally 50 squid is too low

I think some of the online one only charge £7-8 per transaction, but if you consider £7-8 to buy then £7-8 to sell that is 14-16% of your original £50, thus would need a large increase to make any profit.

Those prices are for frequent traders and there is also a yearly charge on nominee accouints.

£50 just won't be worth it because of the fee's etc, unless you know of a beauty which is coming good very soon?

OK then, cheers. Either way I think the general consensus is £50 = No use.
    Sorry OP.

'Batch dealing' may be more suitable for smaller trades. Your buy or sell order is lumped together with others on the day you request, drastically slashing the cost. The service is cheap but it means you won't know the exact buying or selling price until the deal is done.

Basic trading begins at as little as £1.50 with Halifax or £2.50 with the Share Centre.

cool, I'll have a look later on

There is no point putting on £50 - Even if the shares jump up 1000% - That's only £500 and that will never happen.

Get together a few grand and then buy some.
