I think this might be what my OH uses, he has a pen that has a click down top, but he only does 2 injections a day so maybe not....?

Nope I just read its type 2 and Im type 1. Already do 4-6 injections a day so wouldnt make much difference to me anyway!

what is everyones hb1ac? i want to know how bad i am at controlling it, mine has varied from 8-11.1

Are you type 1 or Type 2 diabetic.

I think it's mainly relevant to typpe 2, but this may be interesting for anyone.

Sorry meant hba1c! en.wikipedia.org/wik…a1c it shows the percentage of sticky red blood cells in your body. Should be about 6-7 for a person without diabetes. It only shows the previous 3 months but is a good indication of how well you have been controlling your sugar.

Ahh I didn't know it was called that. Should you be tested every 3 months then? My OH knows about the test but not sure he's had it done (only got diagnosed last yr so all a bit new to us!!)

umm i dont think its neccessary every 3 months its just that I go to a clinic every 3 months and they test, liver, kidney, height, weight, vitamin and mineral, cholesterol and blood sugar from the blood sample you give them...nice to know that everything is working ok!

If he tracks the sugar levels himself quiet strictly then it should be a good indication of his hb1ac level and wouldnt really need the test. I know you can buy home kits from Boots but they are quite expensive. Anyway, the blood sugar monitor usually has 7 day, monthly and sometimes quarterly averages so these should help.

have you seen this before lifescan.com/pro…ms/, supported by most diabetes monitors and you just download the results to the software so you can have a detailed run down of everything you want to see. average morning score etc

Thanks for that, interesting info- will pass it on. Rep given for your help!
