California Easter break with 3 kids

Hello good people and smart travellers,
Any tips on things to do in California with kids between 7 and 10 years?
Thx to the Norwegian deal posted last month we booked return flight to Oakland (near San Francisco). Have some friends in Bay Area (+ Los Angeles + San Diego) to stay with for a few days. They may not be friends by the time we return

Plan to rent a car for 2 weeks from the 4th day after we land. Besides the obvious touristy things like Golden Gate bridge, Disney Land, Sea Life in the 3 respective cities any other general information / ideas to keep the kids happy?
    Thx for your time

Touristy things: The Alcatraz tour is one of the best things i did on my visit to San Fran- totally didn't think it would be my cup of tea, but it was amazing. You do have to book before you go to guarantee a spot on the boat that lands at the island.

If you have time drive Highway 1 to LA from San Fran. The drive is unbelievable, long, but a once in a lifetime route. If you can, make stops and enjoy the Californian hospitality in the various towns along the way. The smell of the ocean and the pine trees is unforgettable!

The Griffith Observatory is fabulous and offers a great view over LA and the Hollywood sign. Lots of hiking trails up there too.

Also thoroughly enjoyed hiring the bikes on Santa Monica beach and exploring Venice.

Finally Hollywood boulevard was... an experience. Had to see it, but i wouldn't ever go again. However we did watch a movie in the El Captain theatre one night (a special showing of Hocus Pocus) and it was AMAZING! Beautiful theatre, special guests appearing on stage and live music. SOOOO jealous!

Agree with Alcatraz. We did it at night it was foggy and fantastic. Magic mountain in LA worth a visit great rides. May not be the best for your 7 year old. They may be too small for most of the rides.
We also did a did a bike ride from fisherman's wharf across the Golden Gate Bridge and got the ferry back from Tiburon. Stopped for ice cream on the way.

We stopped at Morro Bay on Highway 1 and went kayaking. Fantastic fun up close with sealions and sea otters floating on their backs. Kids loved it.
