Calling abroad from the UK

Got a friend in the Dominican Repubic just now, wanting to text them but can only find the cost from the dominican to the uk, would it just be the same price both ways or cheaper or dearer do you think.

Texting? 10p for you to send it to them, nothing for them to receive it and I think it's either 30p or 35p to send one back - this is based on o2 prices.

Calling? Go to MSE and they have a great drop down menu cheapest international call checker, saves me a fortune.

does the receiver get charged for calls abroad, im sure when i lived abroad either when i called someone, or someone called me from the uk both of us got charged. i cant remember which way it was thow

just something else to think about/find out
it may have changed now, it was a few years ago when i was abroad

according to the bt website use the 1809, or 1829 from the uk, but put 00 infront aswel
so 0018097712345678

thephonebook.bt.com/pub…L64

it doesnt matter which of the codes u use i dont think, but the 1809 is the most popular
thats what iv found online anyways

this website maybe of use to u aswel?

when u get a text from ur friend it should come up with the correct number
whenever iv called between countries its always been to use the country code and drop the 0
so 077123456789 calling from abroad to the uk would be 00447712345678
which is the same amount of numbers as 18097712345678
should be 14 numbers altogether, 16 if u add the 00 at the very front so double check
