    Camcorder Help

    Hi Peeps

We've recently had a baby girl and would like to film her growing up, I've been reading reviews on camcorders for the last week and i'm still no wiser and more confused then when i started lol. What camcorder should i be looking for? one with sd card memory, mini dv, hard drive? I've been told that SD memory would be better and wouldn't eat the battery as much and make it easier to put on dvd? We're not rich so spending silly money is out of the question. I can really only afford upto £200. Can anyone recommed one to do the job in question? Thanks in advance

    Hi
Personally, I would try and pick up a good condition 3CCD MiniDV camcoder on ebay. You will get a good one for less than £200. SD,DVD,HD, at your budget, none of them will be as good as anolder technology 3CCD camcorder. Panasonic, maybe a Sony if you can get one under 200...I'll go have a quick browse...

Thanks for the advice, i'll have a look but i'd rather have a new one just for peice of mind

    * I hear what you're saying about new, but think of it the way you would think of a new car. Would you buy a new car? You drive it off the forecourt and you have lost value on it instantly, yet it is no different from a new one, just cheaper. For £200 that is your best bet. I have made a couple of documentary's in my time, currently working on another. Have moved on to HD now, but for the cash, one of they Panny camcorders is perfect. Unless you are not too bothered about quality? but format wise, MiniDV is still regarded as the best format by many. My new Sony cam is MiniDV. You canny whack it.

Agreed. A miniDV is probably your best choice. I have a JVC (which I bought for around £120 from Argos). It is very easy, if you have a DVD recorder to transfer the video to DVD.

    Hi

I've pin pointed two camcorders that i can get for a decent price, i can get the Sanyo - Xacti VPC-CA65 for £88 or the canon fs100 for £218.

They're both SD camcorders but i would like to if anyone has any of the above and what they think of them. I'm not after directing movies or anything i just want a decent camera for filimg my daughter growing up
