    Camera recommendations

    Hi,

Out on the town last night and I ended up losing my old Canon Powershot camera. It was ancient but really good, so now need a new one.

Any suggestions? My old one was a Canon Powershot A620

Sorry to say this but i expect your old powershot WAS probably better than 99% of <£100 compacts available today, despite less mp.

    Got a budget?/preference?

So your saying the picture quality of Canon Powershots has got worst in … So your saying the picture quality of Canon Powershots has got worst in the last 6 years

More megapixels doesn't equal better quality in some cameras.

Doh! thought that would be the case. Everyone laughs at it as it's like a brick but I really liked it, bought it after it was recommended on here.

No preference on a replacement probably up to £150.
I liked the flip out screen and the easy dial for changing picture preferences.

Well because a 2011 Canon PS will have a stupidly high megapixel count so it looks good on paper, which will be detrimental to the quality in some shooting scenarios - particularly low light vs one with a lower MP count.

Megapixels are pretty important. Just not the most important thing to look for when buying a camera.

I can recommend the Fuji f70 exr. Superb compact camera. Brilliant reviews.
Best price new 119 but works out 100 after quidco & codes on quidco site.

Just about every camera was implied by 99%+ and countless camera … Just about every camera was implied by 99%+ and countless camera including powershot will be better, but lets use their logic, my 0.5mp camera will take better pics than the A620 because that just had 7.1mp just to impress people on paper

Seems like lots of 'opinions' and few recommendations.

The Panasonic Lumix TZ8 is £152 at amazon.

this is misc tho and not deal requests.

op, get a Lumix TZ model, 7 or 8 or 9 or 10, maybe even a TZ6 from ebay will produce great photos, The TZ8 above is a good buy.

There are refurb TZ7's on ebay for under £120, they have a bigger higher res screen than the TZ8
