Hi guys. I'm looking for a decent quality camera tripod for my wife who has a Nikon D90. A bit of research is swaying me towards a Manfrotto 055Pro which is £102 - legs only - at Amazon.

Firstly - if i go for it, what is the best head to buy for it, and secondly, is there anything better in the same price range ??

Thanks !

check out 7dayshop - they had some cheap manfrotto there recently

I got the slik 700dx complete with head from camerking on amazon.
Fantastic tripod, gets great reviews.
Absolutely solid.…8-1

Great purchase

Although you don't tend to hear the name Slik very often I've been very impressed with a mini-tripod I have of theirs which other photographers are always interested in. Despite being a little tripod it can hold a surprisingly large SLR and lens and in all the years I've been using it the little device still looks as good as new.

I've just bought a Manfrotto 055pro from my local dealer as I've been after a decent 'big' tripod for a while, my current one just can't hold some of the larger camera combinations steady. The choice of head is going to come down to individual preference and use, I went with a three way head as I prefer being able to adjust that part rather than try to move the legs to get it level. It was an ex-demo kit which I'm not bothered about as I bought it all for 105 quid which seems very reasonable to me.

I use the 055 Manfrotto and think its the best thing since sliced bread.

However cheap it aint, I was lucky I managed to get a hold of one for free because the leg release button was broken, (£2.54) to fix

I bought a ]Cullman ball head from B&H in the states for the price even delivered is a fantastic head the quality is superb.
