Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend a good camp site (tent pitch) in the NW, within an hours drive of Liverpool.

Looking to go at the weekend (6 of us), but can't find anywhere decent or that is recommended.

Any idea's welcome (pref with website address if possible).

have a look at it's the best camping forum around and caters for all from the stay up late drinking round a fire campers to the more civilised types.

Personaly I'm a drinking round the fire kind of camper but that might change soon as this years the 1st time we'll be going with the little un

Good luck,

Abbey farm , in between southport and Liverpool, is a great site. check around the , Ormskirk , area. its there. should be on the site above.. ok

I have stayed at the abbey farm camp site - it is a good large site but my personal preference is for cheshire fairoaks caravan club site. They have a field available for tents - so not too many of them. The big plus points (for me) were they have (1) exceptionally clean bathroom facilities (2) cheshire oaks outlet village very close (walkable - in c5 mins has a supermarket and bowling /cinema etc) and (3) there is a cheap pub that does good meals next door.

Both sites are on the web address given already.

Downside: If you are only looking to go over to Liverpool then there is a mersey tunnel fee to pay (£1,40).

Get yourself of to the Lake District - might be a little over an hour but will be worth it ;-)

jah - do you know any sites in the lakes that allow fires, or the peak district for that matter. Camping without a fire is like fishing without a rod in my opinion!

Nothing mental like a bonfire but a fire or firepit to keep everyone warm so they don't have to goto pubs or just goto bed.
