Can anybody recommend a good bike ?

Current one is useless. Really difficult to cycle ( no its not me ), wheel is off balance slightly, brakes arent the best etc etc.... Looking for a bike thats easy to ride, and can get up a hill as my 8 mile journey is full of them, one at 17%. If not a specific bike, what to look for in a bike ? Oh and it can't be to expensive. Thanks for any help

Work out better in the long run if you can stretch to £250 at least.
I don't know of any decent bikes for less than that.

For your budget 2nd hand is the way to go

The best deal around at the moment for a real bike that is well built, strong and made up of quality compnants is the GT aggressor XC3 at Halfords for £299 forget the advertised RRP that's just halford shpeel it's normally £370ish.

Mountain bike seems best suited to what I would use it for. Still a little expensive, looks good though, shall have a look on ebay see if theres any on there. Thanks for the help

You can probably pick up an okayish claud butler, giant, trek for that.

I don't know if Distance is a issue for you but give this a go........

If you can stretch to it this isn't a bad price for a 'basic' bike! There are other sizes also.

That was never the RRP of £400...it's only worth the current price if that.

I never said it was worth the original RRP but it's getting closer to the OP's budget for a bike that has what I would deem 'basic' components. I would personally look for a second hand bike with better components however although that can be a false economy also as depending on age, components could need changing.

try this ]one at Asda if you are on a tight budget. I got two for the girls after their Halfords bikes were stolen and to be honest these are blooming decent for the money. Nice style frame I have owned various half decent mountain bikes in my time and was impressed especially for only £50.

why do you say that, I have hammered two and despite the fools who have left reviews on Asda (ie peddles coming off due to they put the wrongs ones on the wrong side or lack basic DIY skills) they go together well and have stood my abuse, which is mighty picky.

Cambridge is a fair way, but looks good actually, might give them a call
cheers

i'd rather take the chance with something of feebay or asda than the mish mash thebikeman has on their website. Don't think I saw one bike with matching tyres or looking worth the money they were charging.
