    Can anyone help?

I need a good clear digital recorder to record weird sounds from the house we live in. Also need a good bit of software I can install onto a Windows 7 64 bit system to download the sounds and Annelise what I get. The software if possible I'd like to be free and as user freindly as possible..................as I have no knowledge of using that type of software or how to use it. Just starting out.

Thx and Rep will be posted for genuine help.

i have not used it, but with it been open source it 's wiorth a good..

If your budget will stretch to about £150, have a look at the Zoom H2, it has a built in mic.

If you want an external mic, be aware that there are different kinds - i.e. some are better for recording sound from one direction only (e.g. a singer or instrument, so maybe not useful for you) and others are better for recording sounds from all directions. I don't know enough about the subject to advise you on a particular make or model though.
