The Guardian group now owns the ]Smooth FM and ]Real Radio radio stations, as well as probably the biggest internet presence for a newspaper. On a local scale, the ]Kent Messenger group also owns the local KMfm radio stations in many areas of Kent, and agressively cross-promotes them.

As far as I know and understand, the british press is largely owned by several corporations, which owning which paper you would be better off googling somehow.
As far as the media- if you mean TV, Radio stations, News Agencies, as well as newspapers, then again, all owned privately and by different people. Although I think Rupert Murdoch is a biggy in that his group have interests in Sky, and most of the popular newspapers.
And then of course there's the BBC, which is supposedly owned by us all, the glorious licence payer.
Radio stations are a different kettle of fish. Theres the obvious BBC stations- Radio 1, 2 etc and the local BBC stations ( often referred to by their respective counties eg BBC Radio Merseyside, Radio Lancashire etc)
. Then there are countless smaller independent radio stations who broadcast on a local basis, and these are either privately, usually as part of a group or sometimes as a single entity.

Do newspapers have a free choice when editing? - Down to opinion. In an ideal world you would say yes. But how much influence the newspaper owners have, or their political persuasion or indeed their need for good circulation figures all have on the extent of Editor's input is all debatable.

Migt be an idea to check out wikipedia for examples/facts and figures on particular media ownership.
