Change the microfilter(s), and ensure they are present on all extensions.

Switch off the phone. :-D Internet much more important:-D

Seriously, do you have one of the little boxey things plugged into your telephone socket before you pull the other stuff in, (its a filter thingy - I think:oops:)

    Filters.

Problem is, you probably have a fault on the line internally. BT would charge a fortune to check it - and wouldnt deal with the fault as its inside the house.

Make sure you have the microfilter plugged in.

    Why, do you know her?

Putting microfilter into Google will provide a wealth of information should she need it.

But as it's nearly hometime on a friday ]here's a good guide if needed

So you saying it had been torn or pulled into two?

(attention turns to the rabbit :x)

This can happen for a couple of reasons, the most common being incorrect filter set up or a faulty filter. Do you have a filter in every used socket?? Even sky boxes and fax machines require filtering. Have you tested in the NTE5 master socket (if you have one)?
    Do this http://www.broadbandspeedtester.co.uk/images/NTE5_unplugged.jpg
Plug in your router to the test point behind and make a call to your number, does it still do it? Contact your Broadband service provider as it's quite possibly a H/R dis in the network and advise them, they should arrange for a ADSL healthcheck. If the problem does not happen when you try this check your filters etc again and replace if possible.
PM me if you want me to do a test on your line
