Can anyone recommend a good school shoes for a young boy?

My son is starting school after the holidays so need to get him some decent school shoes - problem is that he ruins every shoes I buy him quick time LOL!

My daughter is easy, I just get her patent leather ones from Clarks and she is sorted for months - can't get away with that for my son though, unfortunately. LOL!

So, has anyone found a pair of shoes that do not scuff/fall apart easily? Or which ones to avoid?
Please share your experiences! Thank you :-)

Always did the clarks things too when they were tiny, then kickers, sketchers, caterpillar boots, Doc Martens etc.

nope..... just try buy in sales..clarkes have one on now..or find an outlet. they grow out of them quick anyways,

yeah i was on for kickers too they are sturdy!!

Hmmm... My son has had Kickers but they scuffed very easily - he didn't get to wear them out probably because he didn't wear them once he scuffed them (which was within a weeks worth of wear). He scuffed his Clarks and his Timberlands too.

I know that he will out grow them but want some shoes that will stay looking nice - even if they disintegrate after a month or two, I would rather that than they scuff within a week.

I found these in ]NEXT which are good because they have a shell toe, but ideally I wanted something a bit smarter

I only gor the clarks ones when my little one started walking, i get all his shoes, trainers from NEXT now. They are a good fit, not too pricey and last quite a while

Thank you do you know how they last scuff-wise?

slippers are cool

No school shoes in the clarkes sale - but I do tend to try and buy boys shoes with reinforced toes - as they kick through them quickly

I shall try to find a pair for you - so you can see what I mean!

that would be helpful. thank you

Aaah I see it's the scuffing that you are bothered about

No point me looking if I personally can't say they are good

My son has these ones clarks.co.uk/fin…758

His feet grow really slowly so we get extremely good use out of them.

If your sons feet grow fast - then it might be worth considering a cheaper shoe if he goes through them fast. Personally I don't buy more than 2 pairs of school shoes a year!

I should say the lip at the front isn't as high on these as previous shoes we have bought! It does help when your son digs by kickign his shoe into the soil / hard ground! :x

These sound good - like what I am after.
Smallest size is a 10, my son is just coming into a 10 I think - I will get him measured

Hi there I am in the same boat, my 6 year old scuffs his shoes often within the first day!!!!
I found a really nice pair in sainsburys for around £15 i think, he wore them throughout the summer term, I haven't had the opportunity to go and have a look to see if they are still stocking them I wanted to buy another pair for this term, (fingers crossed they are!). They had flashing lights on the heel and reinforced toes, velcro straps. You were able to turn them on and off
Hope this helps

clarks are good, but I've found M&S are as good quality and you dont need a 2nd mortgage to afford them

i have noticed tesco and asda school shoes looking cheap and nasty this year

Harder to find but look for brands with lace up(if you choose) "Reinforced Toes";
Keen, Timberland, sometimes Clark, Land's End has winter suede slip ons
