Thanks, will consider Worthing, though ideally we want sand for the kiddies to play in - been to Brighton a few time but wasn't too keen on it

Haha love it! Not quite what I had in mind though :giggle:

Define 'reasonable'! Obviously you've got a bit of a journey to do and do you have your own transport? What part of London are you coming from? Brighton is probably the closest, particuarly if you're in South London or Surrey but it is a stone beach. If you want sand, try West Wittering Beach. Very nice there but it's a bit of a distance!

Worthing is nice, not much sand though, try Climping beach, (near Worthing) has some great sand dunes, so there is sand to play on and then pebbles running to the beach, gets really busy though, but is worth it,

LOLZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dunno, was obviously thinking South coast or East Coast - thinking not too much further than Briton distance which is about 80 miles but some of the suggestions above are lovely so will consider it and staying overnight

What about Gravesend we used to go there years ago and it was lovely ,I don't know what its like now though.

Lowestoft has one of the nicest beaches in the country, also got the biggest seafront airshow in Europe during July , which is also free (donations of £2 requested)

you can rent them out from the people who own them but its normally only if you want it for more then 3day. It just gives you somewhere you can make a cuppa and get changed.

its very handy when you decide you want a BBQ and all the relatives come to see you:roll:

If you go east coast way then Gorleston beach is gorgeous, its just below lowestoft

I've got this thing about Fairlight, drives the wife mental. You go up there on a clear day and the view is amazing.

Oh don't go to boring Worthing, there is mor seaweed than sea there and horrible pebbles! Bournemouth is much nicer! We used to go to Alum Chine which is less crowded than the beaches round the pier. familyholidaysouthwest.co.uk/mai…tml
