Can anyone recommend using SaveOnSamsung or ThePCBusiness.com??

    Hi all,

Going to be purchasing my laptop this week and found it cheapest at these places which appear to be exactly the same, trade from the same place and have almost identical phone numbers but are they legit and if so, what's their delivery service like?

    Thanks for your help
    Matt

Take it no one has really used either of them then?

Think I'll avoid them even though it could be a saving of £30.

    whois results for both

Nice one leefal, that fraud thing certainly is a bit worrying so I think I'll give these guys a miss.

I did a google search for them both which didn't really return much which raised suspicions to begin with but I'm glad you found that.

Doesn't appear (m)any people have used them either judging by lack of response which is never a good thing either.

I don't know if they are actually scamming, it could be some scammer using their details, it's hard to know. The only real way to find out if they're legit or not is to go to that unit in Brummie.

Yeah I was thinking that but the product I wanted, it says it is not in stock to collect from Birmingham otherwise I wouldn't have minded driving there to pick it up and save the £15 delivery charge.

It seems reassuring that they post pictures of their unit on their website, well it give it some sort of credit in my opinion, but it's the lack of customer reviews that worry me. I don't take a blind bit of notice to the 'testimonials' page on the website as they are probably made up anyway.

Think I'll be best off sticking to my guns and avoiding them unless there are a number of posts to suggest otherwise. Thanks again for your help/advice.

That place in Birmingham? It's genuine. They are repairing an old Mesh portable from me. Whilst there I bought a replacem, ent desktop - an old solid IBM PC with XP SP3. Had to get a separate internal DVD writer, but all running very well. About £175.

They offered to take cash and not charge VAT, and then added 6% (I think it was) surcharge when i used mastercard (which I did for my own peace of mind).

I have been looking at buying from thepcbusiness.com but I'm a little unsure about it also. Especially because I'm the same boat as Towelie, with my product not being in stock in Birmingham, but it is from their warehouse (wherever that is).

Also the last post, where the guy signed up in July and posted of its legitimacy (albeit it not singing all their praises) raised some concerns too. I don't think I'll touch these with anyone else's.

Called them today after seeing their google ad. Their prices seem ok but the £10 shipping breaks the deal. Not sure if they're genuine though.
