Can dogs get doggy colds or doggy flu?

My black lab is poorly, and I think it's just like a cold, does anyone know if dogs can get doggy colds or flu?
After a stupidly long, cold walk on Saturday from which she was shattered and had completely over done it, but on Sunday we had 2 other dogs visting all day so she couldn't really recover. Then on Monday she started to get all shaky and shivery from the inside, cold ears, not wanting to get out of bed, bit wobbly, not interested in anything or anyone. Same today, but a little bit more sparkle in her eye.
She's not off her food so we're not overly worried, and she's only a year and a half old so a fit young thing, but it seems just like me when I have a cold, but can dogs get doggy colds? It seems a bit silly saying 'my dog has a cold'.

If her nose is hot and dry she has a temperature.

    Myth....wrong info

I mentioned their colds to the vet, he confirmed that dogs can get respiratory infections.Leave off the walks for a few days is my advice.:)

You sure your dog has'nt got kennel cough? Any coughing, nasal discharge. They can pick up virus's, bacteria etc but it's not called a cold lol. Hope shes better soon, if her armpits are overly hot then she could have a temperature, any more help give me a shout x
P.S don't over worry as she is not off her food, just make sure her water intake is good

Dogs do get colds, mine always used to sneeze and had a horse bark but no shivering.
Going out in the cold does not give someone/ animal a cold, it is a virus caught from somthing else.

    Naaa I ment hoarse:whistling: knew I spelt it wrong.:-D

kennel couch is like a bad bronchitis would be to humans, & if the dog is old or suffered other illness can be hard for them to get over it.

    Thanks guys!
She has had all her injections and boosters (months ago so it's not the reaction to those). Not coughing, so don't think it's kennel cough.
Her nose is dry, and she has the most loving puppy-dog eyes, she just wants a cuddle and also her own space at the moment, you can see her mind going between the two, all confused. She is definately a bit chilly rather than having a temperature, freezing little ears and shaking like there's no tomorrow. She doesnt want to go outside at all, not even for a wee, the amount of time and persuasion to get her out and then she waddles like a wobbly old dog out to the lawn. I popped one of her beds next to the aga which she is loving, it's lovely and warm.
She is so slow, wobbly and looks poorly, but so long as she is eating and has an appetite i'll give her a home-made prescription of lots of TLC! And I've put another water bowl nearer for her.
My silly father, no more stupidly long walks!

Yep they can get colds, One of my EBT's get them where he is cold and shivery, couple of days in front of the fire and a few cups of tea should do the trick!
