I am looking to buy an item from CEX. Can I purchase it first and then sell something to them to use against that purchase?

You what?
Once you've purchased it, how would you expect that they would then discount the completed purchase?

If you buy something in-store you have 2 days to return it for a refund/change your mind. So if you obtain vouchers by then you can return the item an immediately buy it again with the vouchers.

Only 2 days? Might as well buy online then as I think you get 14.

I stand corrected, they used to do 2 days money back. If you look at the store t&c now it says that you get vouchers.

9.6 CeX will exchange most goods purchased in error or unwanted gifts … 9.6 CeX will exchange most goods purchased in error or unwanted gifts provided they are returned within 2 days in the condition they were sold accompanied by a receipt. The exchange is issued as a CeX voucher for the purchase price. We are unable to accept items that have previously been exchanged.

No, you wouldn't be able to do this. You'd have to sell the items first.

So you basically want them to buy your vouchers from you, at a 100% rate?

You're funny

Not sure what you find "funny" as this apparently was their previous policy:

" How do I pay using CeX voucher?
1) Please place your order and pay for the order with a debit or credit card.

2) Redeem your vouchers against your online order by sending the vouchers to us with your order number within 28 days of receiving your invoice confirmation email.

3) We will charge you the full amount for your order until we receive your voucher(s), then we will refund the voucher amount. We recommend you send your vouchers by a traceable delivery service, keeping a note your voucher “Order number” before sending."

Where did you even find this? This is from the days before you could use voucher codes online, so doesn't apply any more.
