If you connect a male to male cable to one of the female connections that should work.
So you'll have 2 male and 1 female connections.
It works because the wires flow through all the connections and can send and receive the signal.

Like ?

try googling 1 female to 2 male :whistling:
Prefix with "audio jack"

won't a normal headphone splitter do the job?

edit: nope it won't.

Those posting L/R Phono to 3.5mm audio jack, don't bother. It's not the same thing as what the OPs asking.

On the subject (and not sure why noone else has asked this yet), why do you need this configuration of cable?

Thanks guys im looking for something like the one posted above, I need to split the signal from some speaked so that it will play both my xbox & PC with out having to keep changing them.

Carley where did you buy yours from?

So you want to essentially mix the output from the XBOX and the PC into the speaker's input? Not a good idea really...

You really need a signal switcher or a mixer to share to outputs to one input, otherwise there will be all sorts of problems with mismatched impedances (and potential damage to the equiptment if more than one of the devices is on at once).

i know its not the best idea, but what other choice is there? other than buy some better speakers. Is there a switch that will essentially do the same thing?

You could easily do what you want with a switch but I can't think of anything I've seen commercially available - you could make one but it might be more effort than its worth. You could wire the XBOX to the line-in on the computer but obviously that means the PC needs to be on all the time.

You could of course just try the cable anyway (as Magicmonkey said getting the adapter you pictured and a male-male lead would leave you with 2 males and 1 female all connected) but be aware it could damage the sound cards or speakers (as well as sound pretty awful), particularly if both devices are on at once.

You could get this sort of thing from deal-extreme ]http//ww…668 but its a bit overkill as it switches audio+video and you would need lots of 3.5mm to phono leads...

as jah128 has rightly said, you'll get all sorts of issues doing this. It might be worth popping into your local Maplins and asking in there (probably something like ]this). Whilst you're not obliged to buy anything, they may be able to point you in the right direction. I have an amp and just feed the outputs from PC/Xbox etc into it and then just change the input at the front. Either that or Google 'audio switch box'

Alternatively you could buy a ]Belkin Rockstar.
It is essentially a 5-way 3.5mm headphone splitter.
I have one for my speakers.
I connected the 5.1 speaker set up which required 3 ports (front, rear, sub/centre), the xbox, the wii and headphones (incase the speakers were turned off). There is a male wire already connected to one of the ports which I connect my iPod/laptop to.
It works well when only one input is on (eg. just the wii) but I've also used it successfully to play music from my laptop with the xbox sound on in the background. It is quite versatile and has a good build.
