I have 2 bank accounts, 1 for every day use and wages and the other for paying on the net. When i buy something i transfer the money over to the other account and make sure i all ways have enough funds.

I have just checked my account and Amazon have charged me £49.00 for a prime account and as i have not used amazon since November they have admited it was there mistake and will refund me the money.

The problem i have is now i have bank charges of £22.00 for going over. Can i get amazon to pay for this?

Thanks for any help

How you manage your money isn't their problem, but if you scream and shout a bit you might be able to get it out of them but they don't HAVE to.....

Good luck i hope you do get it back!

Two things wait until your bank charge you.
Then send Amazon a copy and ask for the money.
2 then tell the bank what amazon did they will drop the fees and then amazon will give you the fees so £22.00 profit.
Sweet

I dont see why not. You would have to send them a copy of the letter you recieved. Personally id ring your bank as firstly the amazon charge was unauthorised.. They shouldnt charge you for going overdrawn if someone makes you go overdrawn when it isnt your fault.

point is it wasn't his management, it was an unauthorised deduction of money so yes Amazon are liable

So you didn't sign up for the free trial of Amazon Prime and then forget to cancel it in time?
They just charged you for it for no reason?

or you could speak to you bank, they might see wave the charge if your explain whats happened.
might be a bit easier than trying to get it out of amazon.

I wouldn't be worried it is causing you problems now.

Just use one account.

A lot of people have been scammed in this country, including myself.

I just carry on as normal.

At least I don't end up in this situation.

I hope it gets resolved soon

So more people said you can than you can't, and you decide not to try. Sense it makes not.

as they have admitted they should not have taken they payment they will pay your bank charges you need to give them the letter stating the charge and a copy of the statement showing the amazon payment making you overdrawn and then they will refund it to you

if it an unauthorised transaction then your bank should deal, last time this happened to me the bank refunded all charges, although they where only pence cause i have an overdraft facility and the money was back in my bank a day later, mind saying that it was a dd so maybe not the same thing, but you should contact your bank anyway as it was an unauthorised tion

The problem with doing it that way is that the bank may save themselves some time, and do it as a "gesture of good will".

If this is used, the OP would not be able to get a refund on another charge that may happen in the future.

I have spoke to amazon and they say it is not down to them to pay even tho they accept it was done in there error. so the bank is my next step

or course it is, regardless of their error, it has been rectified by amazon by refunding you. But if you go to your bank they will remove the charges. I've had it before where my landagent took the money from my account 2 days early causing me to go over my overdraft and it took me 2 days to realise and had charges i believe of £44 or £48 for it. So obviously couldn't get landagent to refund as it was for my rent, but went to the bank, they verified it with my landagent and they dropped the charged.

you are lucky the bank did that as it was your landlady's fault for taking it on the wrong date and she should have paid the charges.
i would call amazon again and speak to a supervisor if they hadn't of made the error you wouldn't have gone overdrawn so their fault ahnd if you push they will pay the fine with all the right proof

Apologies i was referring to the way you transfer the money not that your poor and don't manage it properly in that way!

Just trying to give you 2 view points! could try citizen advice?

reading this makes me think maybe this could be classed as Fraud? So should be able to get money back via that way
