can I use an EE freeview TV recorder box without a contract?

Hi all. My humax freeview recorder ( talk talk 360) box is starting to fail. So I need to replace it. I'm looking at the EE box as it's cheap, 1tb and has quad tuners. So can I use this box without an EE contract or even any broadband? With my present box I don't need any broadband connection.

    Cheers, Steve.

Where would you buy it from? Have you a secret outlet somewhere?

From eBay? Also it's a Huawei box, not a humax box which I got from gumtree.

Not sure if it would record, I was under the impression they were rented and should be returned when contract ends. I would like to know though :-)
