Can someone please explain the O2 Favourite Place PAYG tariff to me?

I've got a O2 PAYG sim, had it for a while now, on the standard 300 texts tariff a month, I find now that I do more talking that texting so I'd like to swap tariff.

Please could someone explain about the O2 Favourite Place tariff, it says you get 500mins to any UK landline or O2 mobile from your chosen registered postcode.

So does this mean I have to be within my postcode area when making a call? or can I be anywhere?

Also if I load £10 onto it does that still remain?

You have to be in the post code area that you've chosen and yes your £10 still remains for you to use.
ahh I see, my postcode is tiny so that would be no good for me, I must say it's not very well explained on the O2 site.

Could anyone suggest the best tariff for just calls and perhaps text too for £10 per month

I've noticed that theres a simplicity option that gets me unlimted text, 500mb of data and 100mins to any network (not sure if that includes landlines or not)

I think you top up £10 and they take £5 from your balance,

They use O2's network so if your phone is locked to O2 you can still use Tesco sims

Take your number with you
All you need to do when you have the new sim is phone o2 and ask for the PAC code and then phone Tesco and give them that code and then you can keep the same number

Keep my existing mobile number?
Your mobile or SIM card comes with its own number printed on the box, but you can still use your old number. That way you don't need to tell friends or family your number has changed.
Just follow these steps:
Contact your existing network and ask for a PAC code (Port Authorisation Code).
Once you have your PAC code give us a call at Customer Care on 0845 301 4455. It is only valid for 30 days, so please call before it expires.
We'll then transfer your existing number to your Tesco Mobile.
How long does the transfer take?
Transferring your existing number to your Tesco Mobile takes about 2 working days. During this time, use up any airtime credits you have with your current network. You can also start using your Tesco Mobile SIM card to make and receive calls using the temporary number.

Are you sure the simplicity tariff is by direct debit? I cannot see any mention on the O2 site

Theres two options from that link you posted, one is for PAYG sims and the other for a 30 Day rolling contract (which is by direct debit)

Tempted by the Simplicity tariff (unlmited texts and 100mins calls) for £10, but the think I can't find is if they take all the £10 from you one you top up or just £5 (going off my other link I posted), or if they take anything from your £10.

So they just charge you £10 every month? what about numbers that are no included in your calling plan (such as 0870, 0844, 0845 etc)

also what if you run out of minutes, how do you top up?

If you go on the pay as you go tariff then yes you just top up, on the direct debit one then I guess they will send you a bill
