Can you add plex channels/addons to Now TV box like Kodi?

I was wondering about purchasing a Now TV box for kids upstairs TV to turn it into a smart TV with addons and channels like the Fire TV box we have downstairs (with Kodi)

I read somewhere that Plex has similar chanbels or addons to Kodi. Is it possible to set ip the Now TV box in such a fashion to get similar content to Kodi?

Will that only give Plex for streaming videos from my library or allow online streams from other sources?

your library plus iplayer n itunes

You can side load Plex (very simple) to your now TV box and then pay £20-25 a year for IPTV (look on eBay).

Sorry to jump on your thread but what is Kodi and Plex? I've looked them up but I still don't really get it, is it legal?

Kodi and Plex are both entirely legal... What some people use them for is less so...

Yes but you need a Plex server to host those channels.

Plex is just a media player client....you need to point it at either your own or a hosted Plex server that shares its stored content

Could I host them on my PC?

Would it have to be on all the time?

Thanks

Provided you're running the Plex server somewhere then yes should work I'd have thought.
EDIT - didn't see Uridium had replied - doh! Yes Fury, I run it from my PC - doesn't have to be on all the time, but I use the XB1 app as my PC is in another room to watch stuff I have on Plex.

Yes just install the free Plex media server app. Its very simple to install and configure, then as long as the Media server is running the Plex client on any devices on your network will see the Plex server and connect.

PC doesn't have to be running ALL the time but obviously it will ned to be running when you want to connect with the Plex client app.

Many people use a NAS device or home media server to host Plex and build up a home library of Media a bit like a local Netflix type system.

Just be aware that unlike simply installing from the store on a Roku box in order to install Plex on NowTV takes a little fiddling, you need to enable developer mode and connect to the NowTV box via PC Browser and upload the Plex app

correct. Only one app can be sideloaded. If you need more then you will need to buy the unlocked Roku equivalent box/stick

Other than Plex I can't think of anything else you'd want to install though? Filmon TV app maybe?
If so then you can install a FilmonTv channel on the Plex server via the Plex unsupported app store.

That way you get Plex and FilmOn TV....(if it's not FilmOnTV you are after then just ignore me )

I subscribe to a sport iptv service that has a roku app. so was hoping to have that and plex. I can install the service via plex but I'm assuming it requires me to have the server set up and don't want to have to switch on the computer every time I want to watch something.
