Can you freeze wine and then drink it once defrosted?...or does it ruin it?

Wondering as the good lady is going for a spa break tomorrow and wants to take white wine.

What d'ya think? I tried googling it and it seems that people do it and then use it for cooking with, but couldn't find anything about drinking it.

    Thanx

From my experience spas tend to provide wine.

lol....first lesson on freezing liquids ....dont do it with anything that is stored in a bottle...especially a glass bottle

it will explode with pressure will it not as it will expand in the freezer? i think its something like that

Cheap 3 for a tenner wine, yes, but not those with a screw cap

If you've spent more that £15 on a bottle of white, best serve at room temperature

While on holiday we put a bottle of white wine in the freezer to chill it quicker, totally forgot it was put there as the already chilled bottle was enough, found it the next day totally frozen.

The wine didn't taste any different & the bottle was fine but I take no responsibility if anything goes wrong, I would do as 1st post & fill the sink with cold water.

That's comforting to know, but it doesn't really answer my question. Thanks for trying though.

why dont you use ice packs...or if you havent got any get some bottles of water, freeze the water, then surround the wine bottle with the water bottles???
That way she wont need to wait for the wine to defrost if she wants it when its still frozen...as it will only be chilled....also then she will have bottles of water if she fancies a change lol

why would u wanna freeze wine? It should keep for ages?

i think he means (as its white) that when the missus comes to drink it, it will have defrosted and therefore be chilled?

Just a bit concerned that they may confiscate it if they see she has brought her own. I imagine they would prefer to sell their £30 bottles of wine! Not to sure if they have fridges in the rooms though.
