Can you get long distance Taxi's?

My Brother is doing Panto in Hunstanton and wants to come up on Christmas.

As he doesn't drive and flights and trains are hard to find around the holidays is it possible to book a fixed fare taxi from Hunstanton to Newcastle on xmas eve (or going the other way on boxing day)? Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this kind of thing and how much it would cost.

would you not be better off ringing the taxi office and asking? sell em a ticket while your at it.

Oh no he isn't :whistling:

You'll be lucky, but it's not impossible. National Express would be a much cheaper option I'm guessing.

Nice, erm, avie

Yeah taxis do long distance runs, my friend is a taxi driver and she is always doing trips to other counties, or airport runs in a taxi return.

it will probably cost double fare on boxing day!

I saw one in the paper a few months back, a woman got a taxi driver to take her to greece, etc. (from england)

edit: or over a year back.

The only other options to him not getting a taxi is that he either spends christmas alone or my Dad drives five hours down and five hours back on both eve and boxing day.

I'm just curious on the kind of cost I could expect as rather than my dad travel all that way I may just go in on the cost of a taxi.

Forgot to add he finishes 8pm on Xmas Eve and has to be back before 1pm Boxing day. Why he decided it would be a good idea to do panto in the middle of bloody nowhere I'll never know.

How much are easyjet from stansted to newcastle if you booked now out of interest?

I may ring round a couple of taxi firms to see the prices for boxing day.

The Christmas eve it would be easier for my dad to get him as his finishing time may be later than he expects.

I love Hunstanton! Its where I spent my holiday time when I was a kid. I really wouldn't try and get taxi. On a guess I reckon its gonna cost about 500 minimum as like others have said, it'll be double fare.

my lamp makes you blush?

Yes Taxi Offices do do fixed fares. I had to travel on Christmas Day from Central London to Surrey with my sister and cost nearly £100 so it;s not cheap!

I'd say you are looking at about £2.50 per mile on boxing day going on my local taxi firm rates (x2 for boxing day!).

225 miles = £562 but would expect a hefty discount. Probably about £400 I would say each way!

just book a train for part of the way at least

Known locally as Peterborough on sea or Sunny Hunny. Not as good as it used to be though. Here is a link to the local taxi companies :

I'm worrying more about boxing day now as eve is sorted.

He needs to be in Hunstanton by 1pm on Boxing day. Taxi seems very expensive, trains are not running, plane gets him in Gatwick by 8.30am but he is still 155 miles away with no trains running.

EDIT:
Eve is sorted as he will be driven up by my Dad.

Local Taxi firm agreed to drive him down on Boxing day for £233, taxi firm i'm familiar with and the guy who owns it lives on the end of my street.
