Can you solve a Rubik's cube?

I read an article in the Metro today that said that Rubik's cubes are set to top Christmas lists this year.

This got me thinking, is there anyone here who can solve the Rubik's cube? I think there's surprising a lot of people who can!

I can do it but I'm no speedcuber, it usually takes me 10-15 minutes. It's not as difficult as it looks. Give it a try.

When i had one about 25 years ago. lol

Used to be able to do it in under 2 mins. Once fluked it in under 1 min.

Can't remember the moves now - There was a set sequence of moves you had to go through. Ending up with cross on top and then rotating corners.

I can do it pretty easily

When they first came out I got hold of one of those cheat sheets and had memorised the moves and could generally solve it in under 2 minutes.

Recently got a new one and it came complete with a cheat sheet but I don't find it as easy to remember the moves - the brain has become a bit lazy I think!

I'd also try the "Bedlam Cube" if you like this sort of thing - that is a good thing to leave on the coffee table when you have friends round!

I used to take it apart and put it back together done lol and pass it off as I had done it lol I was only 10

A close friend of mine can do it in under 30 seconds. It's just an algorithm. Memorize it and your sorted.

I could do it years ago when I was at school, but not any more ... only about 1/2 of it now !

    Yes..

Is there only me that peels the stickers off?

Thats the easiest way to do it, until you lose a sticker :?

    I know.

i can't they stress me out, infact in getting stressed thinking about it

anybody here actually figure out how to solve it on their own rather than looking up the sequences??

It's almost the same, it's just a case of memorizing the algorithms.

?? what is the same ?? surely everybody here can go to a website and follow the sequence of moves, but i doubt very many can solve the cube on their own.

I mean the method is the same, doing it on your own just means you have to remember the moves.

I think what he means is can someone work out the moves themselves rather than just looking them up:?

    Do the moves.

Oh, I see. You have to be really smart to do that!

yes, exactly. i know quite a few people who can solve the cube but none of them figured it out on their own.

definitely not the easiest way..those stickers were stuck on rock solid..hurt my fingernails loads (bleeding ) .... rubik cubes = painful memories of blood, sweat, tears and FAILURE!

I'm pretty sure the algorithms only come in at a later point. You have to get the cube to a certain stage before you can use them. no?

Lmao cheers for that went down well in the office.
    This is a good one.

    Yup them and the clock.

Could do 'em all and yes I worked them out myself. They didn't have t'internet when I was a nipper

poor Mr Rubik didn't even patent the Rubiks cube, and never made anything from it. He never made anything as good again
