can you still get HD channels if you drop Sky HD?

Hi, might be a bit of a daft question but here goes....I'm looking to downgrade my Sky package to save money from the Family bundle to the Variety bundle. So basically all you really lose is HD and box sets. My question is, is it just the Sky HD channels I'll lose (I.e. Atlantic, Fox etc) and will I keep the likes of the E4 & BBC HD channels as they are nothing to do with Sky?? Please note I can only receive tv via my Sky box as I don't have an aerial. Thanks in advance

The extra channels you pay for will be cut, including the HD ones, however free tv channels such BBC 1 HD will still be viewable.

You still get like free view channels and then you can add on if you want my friend got boxing for 1 night when he went to cancel they let him keep at £2 a month good luck

go to your sky account and click review my package - scroll don and you can select cancel HD and box sets - click here and go through the options like selecting reasons why etc and eventually they will offer you a deal before you cancel. You might have to click through several 'are you sure you want to cancel' buttons before hand but it wont cancel until after you've seen the offer.

Hi, thank you. I've already just got the family bundle half price (after asking to cancel completely) so doubt they'll offer anything better. I'm planning on catching up on everything I've got recorded in HD and then cancelling the HD to save a few extra pennies (currently on unpaid maternity leave so everything helps!)

you'll be surprised how much they offer
after reading advise on here about 5 months ago I got £100 credit on my account and my while package half price for 12 months

sky, it's like cat n mouse, swings & roundabouts, I got special discounts last year and due for review in October so will need to phone them to "discuss" new contracts, I will need to quote BT & Virgin offers, some ppl get great deals, sky don't want to lose customers.

Can you save much more from the downgrading ?
I pay Boxsets for £26 and Multiscreen for £8. I thought that was an ok deal as you get SKY HD+, 3D, Sky Go Extra, only bits I'm missing are Movies and Sports. That works out at £34 a month and this is with a very lacklustre deal.

No, it's only £3 per month, but like I say, when I'm not earning anything and have 2 kids to support, every penny counts. I don't need to watch in HD and I don't have time to watch box sets on top of everything else I have recorded, so figured I might as well drop that bit.

Ouch, sorry to hear that . Might be worth explaining to sky that you have to drop the service due to lack of funds and see if they can sort you out a better deal.

Left Sky 3 months ago. Not once did they offer anything to get me to stay. Was quite disappointed. I did not want to stay with them, just wanted the opportunity to turn down everything they offered.

I already have a pretty good deal so not too bothered about trying to knock them down further...I just feel I'm paying for more than I really need.
