Cancelling o2 Broadband

I am currently with o2 Broadband and it keeps dropping the connection on the xbox, a lot of the time it wont even load a web page on my laptop. Suffice to say i have lost patience with them.

I signed with them about 3 months ago and now want to go with virgin to get 50meg, o2 say i have to £70 odd to cancel.

Can i cancel the contract early due to an unsatisfactory service?

They have the notes on the account to show i have been having problems since day 1, surely they cannot force me to pay cancellation fee.

if you are having problems and o2 want £70 to cancel, i suggest you ask for a deadlock letter from them and take it up with ofcom, they will make a judgement and you may get out for free,

or of course you can contact the CEO at o2, this might be the best option to get it sorted quicker, they may let you off if you can show them that you have had problems, i know when i was with virgin, i left having only been with them 7 months, (12 month contract) and they let me leave without charge, as i complained to the CEO

Thanks for that, i have been told that i cant cancel for free without the technical dept saying the line is unfixable.

i thought we had it sorted a while ago (it wasnt brilliant, but a bit better), then someone in the technical dept said they had changed some settings which knackered it again. i then told them to stop making changes without asking if the service had got worse again, and now i have been told that because i said that they will not cancel free because they were unable to do more tests even though theyve had 3 months.

did the ceo actually take your call? or did you write to him?

Let me know when you want the 50 meg Virgin, I work there hehe, will sort it out for ya

On a seroius note. What would the procedure be at your place to cancel for free? if i had been having trouble for 3 months would the fee be waived?

thats not something i deal with sorry. Im in the sales department. Basically argue the toss and speak to a manager to deal with it
