Cancelling sky, question regarding channels left to watch

If I cancel the sky subscription completely am I right in thinking I will still be able to get some channels though the box with the card?

Has anyone done this and what channels do I get?

Am I still alble to use the recording facility on my HD box?

I do not think so. You need your viewing card to watch any channels, even the freeview ones. I do not know if your viewing card will still be active after cancelling.

i've never had sky, but from what i've read is that you get some channels (variation from freeview), but the recording and pvr functions of the box get disabled.

you will get freeview and you can still record onto your sky box ( i know this as my nan did a 3 month deal with them and then cancelled it)

I agree you will get the free channels (there is a list on the Sky website somewhere) but unless things have changed very recently you will not be able to record. The recording function has a charge and won't work once cancelled (mine certainly doesn't).

    Edit: link to free channels:
