    Cancelling Spotify free?

Is there any way to cancel Spotify free? I think it's pathetic what they have done to the T&Cs so I now don't even want them having my username or password. Anyway to cancel the free account?

It's almost like they're trying to make money from their business.

    Shocking.

    very

What's changed, you can only listen to the same track ever 5 times??

So if I want the Steps album, I can listen 5 times then I've got to buy it?

5 times in one month i believe

What's deleting your username and password going to achieve? It isn't going to make them rethink their business strategy. If you don't agree with it stop using it and start buying music. At the end of the day it was (is) a free service, so you 'not agreeing' with any changes they have made is irrelevant really. Sorry.

Great to see they're getting rid of it.

Can move the business forward for the people that are happy to pay for the service.

Are you thick? The reason why Spotify got so popular in the first place was because of their free service!

Exactly!!! That isn’t a coincidence; they knew from day one that they would eventually phase down their free service once it became popular. It's just a marketing strategy and a very clever one! Enjoy it whilst it lasted but as they say, 'you dont get nothing for free!'

TBH it sounds more like a company getting too big and greedy for its own good.. I expect them to go downhill fast from this point and expect the service to become WORSE (not better) because of this.

I disagree, I think this was the plan from the begining, like a three year plan or something. They needed the free service to promote the brand and create awareness. Now it is massive, they can scale back the free stuff so that quite a lot of people will pay for premium. Granted, a lot of people won't pay, but what do they care? Less traffic on their servers leaching stuff for nothing! As a business plan it's a very clever and well thought out one, and not a decision they made over night

it's the oldest trick in the book - let people depend on something then start charging them for it. We (the empire) did it with opium back in the day!

Incredibly thick. Although relatively speaking, I feel intelligent.

Do you actually think this wasn't their plan all along? Suck people in then restrict a service they've grown fond of the past few years, tempting people to pay. Some will, some won't. They weren't getting money from the ones that won't anyway so it's no loss to them.

Of course it's popular though, an excellent service all for free.

It's a business, believe it or not businesses aim to make money. People don't care enough to buy a service, businesses don't care about those people unless they pay. Does that confuse you?

You have to email/contact their customer services to close your account - they don't make it easy for you to do so as they like to keep subscriber numbers high to look good to investors

No where makes it easy to cancel, you can't even close your user acount on here.
