My sisters Alsatian dog is 10 years old and recently he's always hungry, its like he's never been fed for days, given any opportunity he will even take scraps out of the dustbin.

She's tried worming him and he's just the same.

She asked me to Google it but i can't find anything out.

Anyone had any experience with this or is it a trip to the vets....

my uncle had an alsation and she had loads of problems digesting food...would make a right mess when she went to the toilet...the vets put her on tablets that she had to take 3 times a day, small white ones, not sure what they were called. No matter how much she ate she would always still be hungry and never put on much weight

So...maybe it is something to do with the digestion system? I would get the dog to the vets, even if there is nothing wrong its better to be safe

    Hope he gets better soon

Does the dog have any other symptoms? Is it drinking a lot or does it have any hair loss? Reason I ask is our dog as a disease called cushings disease, it started with him eating and etaing and never getting full. See this website for more info canine-cushings.co.uk/dia…htm

I bought a black lab for my mate a couple of months ago.

He really liked it at first but got bored of it after a few weeks so released it into the wild.

are you kidding ? This is no way to treat an animal.

whats he eating ? If you feed him cheap rubbish like bakers , pedigree or something else your not guaranted the meat content and you get artifical colours in it and ash on other bits .

p.m if you want some advice x

No idea what dog food she feeds him,but i can't see its that as its only a recent thing, the hunger, there were times when he would leave food in his dish but not now.

As i say hes even started stealing stuff out of the bin and today she'd left a bag on the floor with something food wise in it and he pinched it out of the bag and ate it,he's only been doing this since the extreme hunger he seems to have.

He's driving her mad as he follows her about all the time in the kitchen after food non stop etc etc.

Could be onto something with that Cushings link, thank you.

TBH he needs a full health check including full blood work from the vet. Also depending on the wormer could still be worms. The stuff you get in a pet shop does not necessarily do the job.

Yeah i find the cheaper food they eat and eat like no tomorrow as it doesnt give them the satisfaction they need, if you buy something like Burns, Arden Grange and the likes they will probably be more satisfied for longer.

We have fed our dogs on Wagg since puppies, they are now nearly 12 and 10, the vet is amazed at how fit and healthy they both are, the eldest one still acts like a pup!
Any doubts where your pets are concerned, take them to a vet, they really are the only ones that can give the answer. x
