Ok so im finally going to take the plunge and upgrade!!

2 questions really firstly is this really the best camera for the money (£500 ish)

do i buy it now?? (jessops seems to have the best prices deals) or do i wait for the "january sales" (I;ve never looked into full slr's before so not sure how the prices vary!

i will wait for a new model as the liveview function on 450d is not the best yet.

I'd wait til the January sales....you'll prob get it for cheaper....lets face it, in this climate, the price is hardly going to increase! lol....I'd defo hang of for a few weeks yet....mind you....is that 500 quid not burnin a hole in yer pocket? :-D

The panasonic L10 is given really good reviews, compares well to the 450 and also has a high quality lens as standard, also a fair bit cheaper at only £299!!

Well tbh I would say that you can't go wrong with a canon or nikon when buying your first DSLR.

Agreed, the Nikon Canon debate are purely down to preference. I prefer canon.

Nice shots, I am too heavy handed so the 75-300 wasn't built well enough for me, I went from the sublime to the ridiculous and got the 70-200L IS, but I do more Rally than track stuff when it comes to motor sport so mud stones and rain are always a worry lol, .

All bagged in a Lowepro - SlingShot 200 AW

My setup
350d with standard canon lens
nifty fifty
sigma tank
75-300 zoom
and a sweet deal I picked up in a shop in St Maarten on holiday a 580EXII for 150 quid.
Cheapest place for camera gear I have ever found, they also deliver btw.
Sometimes depending on what you are looking for you get some good deals here onestop-digital.com/cat…og/

Some great shots in there.

Noticed you have a 50mm MK2 I managed to get a MK1 with the metal fitment instead of the plastic one and the distance window. Is it me or is that a cracking lens for £50 thinks its one of my faves.

17-40L f4, 24-70L f2.8, 50mm 1.8 MK1 and 70-200L IS f2.8. 580EX.

Picked up a Manfrotto Tripod for nothing as someone was binning it for having a broken hinge, the hinge cost me £3.99.

All kept in flight case or Lowepro 75AW when I am out and about, The wife makes an excellent tripod carrier too

Really Tempted with the New 5D MK2 eeeeek!

Flippin expensive hobby if you ask me! :-D

Need to start recouping some lens costs, have done a wedding or two and a few commercial jobs but nothing to cover any real costs lol..... still learning.

I am terrible for blaming tools for a bad job, so I have always bought the best I can afford and then all I can blame is ME!

Haven't been out much this year tbh.
Need to get back into the pic taking, quite enjoyable.
I over analyse a lot of the pictures I take which really gets to me.
Need to take it easier with the eld pic taking.
:whistling:

esq3585 your Seat photo is AWESOME, nice job!

Am also getting my 1st slr in the jan sales, not sure whther to get the canon 1000d or the nikon d60 though!! Is the canon best for long term budget?
