Cant Receive MMS from Other Networks???

Hi all,

Both myself and partner recently took out contracts with vodafone, after seeinga great deal posted.

After nothing but hassle, the only problem left is the fact that we cant receive picture messages from networks other than Vodafone. We can send to each other/ourselves ok, but when friends/family on O2/T-mob etc send to us we get the following errors:

My Sony Ericsson W960i - "Request Could not be Completed Due to Unsupported Content: Reason Code 406"

Partners Samsung G600 - "Invalid Argument"

They both come in as messages, but you get a red cross and its when you try to open the message you get the specific error.

We have both seperately contacted Vodafone who have said in both cases Sim/Phone error, but I think they are fobbing us off. We cant be the only ones to have this problem surely.

Can anyone offer any advice? Or tell me a good Mobile Forum to ask on?

Cheers

Sanch

I am not on vodafone but you could just try getting the settings sent to your phone by doing this taken from vodafone website...

Picture message settings on your phone

You can get your settings from us. Follow the link for ]Picture message settings then select:

Your handset make
Your handset model
The red Animated QuickStart button
Then over the air configuration

Thanks for the advice.

I have phoned Vodafone about 5/6 times now and each time they send settings. As far as they are concerned the settings are correct as I can send to all/receive from Vodafone. Its just other network opperators I cant get from.

vodafone are now saying its a porting issue as I moved numbers from T mob. Because both mine and my partners numbers begin with the same prefix, they think thats part of the issue.

This might have been resolved by now, but when I was with Voda 18 months ago I used to get the same problem - it turned out that (at that time?) different networks allowed different sizes of MMS to be sent and received.

The following figures are completely fictional, but as an example if someone on Orange sent me a MMS with a picture at 35kb, and Vodafone only allowed MMSs of 30kb through their gateway then I'd get the issue you're talking about...would have thought they'd have fixed it by now though...:whistling:
