    Cant sleep - any ideas how to make myself sleepy?

    as title, any ideas? Need to b up at 7am lol.

    Hot drink, night

    relax your body, and mind.

    Try clenching your muscles for 10secs and then release, work up your body. So start clenching your toes, then your calves, then your thighs, etc you get the picture. And just concentrate on that. Do it a few times, and hopefully you shall have relaxed your body, effectively stretching it out.
    Do this whilst doing deep breathing, so in slowly and deeply, hold for a second and back out.

    Make sure you have no lights or sounds present. Also ensure your room is ventilated and at the right temp.

    And mainly...dont stress about trying to sleep...its detrimental! Hard one I know!

    you do have to find what works for you. i find TV/films/etc terrible, as i get to interested, same with most music my mind lingers on the lyrics.

    Also this is coming from someone who had sleeping problems, and i had to keep a diary of my sleep for the doctor over 6 months, my average sleep per night over those 6months was just under 4 hours per night.

    Now i love my sleep, and recently, mainly due to my sinus problems and breathing problems i get tired quite easy and when i finally get to sleep, i sleep for a minimum of 7hours a night, often get 9hours! :-D
    But after my operations that should sort itself out again and not waste so many hours on sleep!"

    this does work.
    do this in bed when ready to sleep.

    just lay and relax, you only posted this 20mins ago! i sometimes have taken an hour to doze off and thats without getting up and actually relaxing for a whole hour in bed, doing nothing.

    have you tried mountin sheep :thumbsup:
    or should that be countin sheep :whistling:

    sleeping pills are the best invention. I took one about an hour ago and I now I should go to bed but they make me feel so lovely I drag it out til the last possible moment.

    LOL! yeah ive taken and always keep some in, or the herbal ones and the medicinal ones. The herbal ones are much lighter, and nice for a weekend or something when i cant sleep, and the medicinal ones are much stronger and do hit harder. However, i find if i dont go to bed shortly after taken even the medicinal ones and relax they really dont work too well, and then if your not careful I go past them working.
    Suppose different strokes for different folks.

    Id love some sleep right about now...but still got another 1000 words to type for an essay!

    I only let myself have one sleeping pill a week, on a sunday night as I have slept in far too late on sunday morning and so won't be able to get to sleep at a reasonable time without them.

    I am making so many typos just writing this that I know I should go to bed, and another sideaffect from taking these is that about 10 minutes after taking them I can't remember anything the next day.

    I still cannot even string a sentence together that makes much sense. It is definitely time for bed for me and I have just notice the time too. OMG I thought I had only been on here about 10 minutes but that was an hour ago. Wow where did that time go???

    To the OP if you are a man, there is one sure fire way to make you go to sleep. I am not sure how to describe it without being banned. After a man has sex the brain releases sleep endorphins which is why most men roll over and go straight to sleep afterwards. If you have no person there to oblige you then you must oblige yourself.

    I hope that doesn't break any rules. If it does I won't remember writing this in the morning anyway.

    TinyTrina that description will be fine, you wont get suspended, ive read far worse.
