Hi
I have a minor scratch on my car that is noticible but through to the white undercoat and I want to get rid of it .

Someone suggested as it is so light but noticible to try a carr buffing polish but which one should I get ? My car is metallic light blue and you can feel the sctrach and see it but not greatly - I would take a pic but it's to dark at mo -

I was going to take it to the halfords for the minor scratch removal service , but I could save some money and just buy the polish my self and do it . I've tried asking the staff at halfords but they either don't know or recommend t cut , which I dont want to use .
any help ?

You could try this - Mer scratch repair kit

No personal experience of it but there are some good reviews if you google it...

T cut?

metallic have a clear coat on top of the main coat

you need t-cut metallic on that,

you may have to buy a touch up kit, the clear top coat may need to be filled in on the scratch
if you can see undercoat under the scratch you need to fill in colour then top coat

Halford's sell a 3 part touch up kit, you may need it

then follow up with t-cut metallic (its formulated for clear coat, normal t cut is too coarse)

If its down to the metal you can not polish it out..

It needs touching up, or re-spraying..

Contact your local Chips Away or simlair company, take a look in the yellow pages.

it might not be through to any undercoat. many paint marks go white with a scratch. try your usual polish first with a bit extra elbow grease. if that doesn't do it, then try some autoglym or normal t-cut.

T cut as long as its not down to the metal.

It is through to the white primer, so no polish is going to fix it, either a carefully applied touch up, or better still, a panel respray are the only effective cures.

lol ---- thanks the replies - heat added to all BUT i made a mistake in the post . I MEANT TO SAY NOT THROUGH TO THE WHITE underCOAT/
so the sctrach is actually superfiical - really sorry about that - would I still use t cut ?

Quite a few people on a car owner forum I read recommend this polishedbliss.co.uk/aca…tml

If you call this place up and describe the scratch, they'll tell you the best polish and mitt to get for it. I've seen some before and after pictures of work people have done on their cars using this and you can't even see the scratches after they've finished
