Hi everyone, needed some quick advice really. Going to Toronto on a short trip of 11 days in April. Does anyone have any recommendation of cheap and good car hire facilities their.

Should I book everything from UK and then go and collect my car their? If yes which is the best website if anyone would recommend?

Rep will be added.

I don't know which company to recommend but you should check out Canada's bargain site for cheap coupon codes for car hire. I saw a few discounts during xmas when I went to Canada but ended up not renting a car.

we've hired cars a few times in usa and canada and have used alamo several times but beware of a few things when hiring in canada. if you book online dont say you live in uk as you seem to be quoted a much higher price. for example use a hotel address and compare the different quotes. also the 'quoted' price does not always include insurance as canadians can hire cars using their own personal insurance and to a brit their prices often seem very cheap until you actually sign the paperwork and notice a huge increase for the insurance.

If budget is important you could try rent-a-wreck

I have used them but it was 25 years ago!!

I use Enterprise, and have found them pretty reasonable in Canada.
You have to watch the insurance though. Enterprise include spouses.
Some others however, charge them as an additional driver.
Avoid renting from the airport, as these locations often attract a premium.

The trick is to find a company that includes the Loss Damage Waiver in the price. I think National includes this...

We were in Toronto for a week a couple of years ago and booked through avis. I did a lot of shopping around and they were the most reasonable. Beware of parking tho' We parked on a yellow line outside our hotel for 5mins at 12midnight to leave bags off and came out to find a ticket. We ignored it and it was then billed to us via Avis with an extra admin charge..
