Think that could be the norm TBH. Insurance is expensive ATM and with no experience, or NC, and only an automatic licence I think this could be what to expect

i took that into consideration but been on a scooter for 4 months and no real crash ,not my fault anyway,i wanted a classic bm but they wanted 5 k cheapest quote

Yup, insurance is expensive, I've got a leased car with insurance all in but looked at how much it would cost me to insure myself, 10 plate 1.6 Focus Titanium Auto (I didn't bother with the adaptions as thats going to add and just wanted a basic quote) and I was looking at £600, almost 30 and 6 years NCB.

cant believe that the scooter 125 insaurance was only 200 ,easily sits at 60 but just put off bikes now,i wasnt looking to spend more than 1500 at very most but stupidly enough cant even find one near that soo far, dosent make sense bike insaurance is soo cheap and cars are generally safer

Try different cars too. Also try adding parents/partner (whatever is applicable) as named drivers to get the cost down. Another thing to do is to try modifying your job description. Also remember TPFT is often cheaper than TPO. Look here for more details moneysavingexpert.com/ins…?dd

As above - my insurance is up for renewal and although I have been driving 5+ years, have a years no claims, never had an accident or conviction and over 21 they still wanted over £1K! However, adding my mum and dad as named drivers who drive the car infrequently (emergencies or whatever), lowered my premium by £600.

Also, when I was younger, I never did very many miles so went with coverbox (there are others). This is a pay per mile thing, and they install a GPS tracker in your car and monitor the number of miles you do. Go over the number of miles you said and you pay more, under and you get a refund at the end of the year.

thanks for the pointers people, will give that a go adding some people onto it
may just have to stay on the bike though if i still cant afford it

Just a quick note, some insurers want proof of driving licenses so don't add fictitious people on, only those who will let you scan their driving licenses if needed

Insurance is based on key factors
Your age, car grouping (small litre, vauxhall/ford is best) no claims discount ( most companies will use your scooter ncd) your address (your area will have a mosaic rating e.g high theft/claim/debt areas) try and use a friends. Claims history ( fault claims, where you paid an excess) car mods ( don't have them) mileage (under 7k) and having an older main driver ( as long as they drive more than 50%) finally go on compare sites, insurance has increased over 30% this year due to insurance companies financial loss which was mainly due to claim farming (no win no fee companies) hope this helps.

I can't beleive that some people these days can't drive a manual.

Only disabled people should have auto's.

If your that bad a driver that you need an auto then your insurance should be high.

What if the OP is disabled?

hello when i first passed i went with admiral and when i added additional drivers it went down by a few hundred and i got it at 1500 in the end BUT now ive come to renew i was getting about 1400 where ever i tried but i went on something called tesco compare and ive got a quote for 1100 odd so try tesco compare...the best quote was with endsleigh but do it through tesco compare cos i tried going direct to endsleigh and they quoted me more.

Cut a long story short...try tesco compare

    its insurance & licence btw

Give Quinn a try, they tend to be good for new drivers.

the 3k sounds about right, all depends on your age, car type, area etc. I live in a area where the insurance rate is ok, and I am in the latter end of my 20's and my insurance quotes are high too. Much cheaper insurance when you have your provisional licence than when you pass.

The reason i specified with tesco compare was because all other compare websites gave me prices over £2000

Personally I find Swift Cover to be the cheapest, and a superb company to deal with if things go wrong. I have been driving for 8 years, and only had 1 year ncb (before my accident) and we were looking at about £800 per year. One thing I will say is if you want to be the main driver on the policy get someone older with more experience to go on the policy as a named driver, this can take about 10% off sometimes. Other than that, get the older person to be the main driver on the policy and you go as a named driver. Not the way to do it but it will save you a shed load of money. (People on here will not recommend this) BTW.

Fronting, completely illegal and one of the reasons why insurance is so high for the rest of us

19 1year no claims 990 (admiral) for fully comp on pug 106
first year driving 1200 (ikube) fully comp on pug 106

Yep fronting is not good, insurance fraud so in the event of an accident the person taking out the policy and the young person can end up really sc****d. Charges/fines by Police and courts, plus future insurance being more expensive and difficult to get for both due to being convicted of insurance fraud and refused insurance. You also miss out on no claims discount you would have otherwise got.

If you can't afford insurance, you can't afford to drive. Simple as.

Why is insurance been mispelt so much here ?
OP What age are you ? that could be the main reason for the insurance being so high.

If you cant afford the insurance, why not try a lease car where insurance is included?
and agreed with the post above aswell, if you can't afford insurance, how will you afford to dirve ? petrol, road tax, maintenence etc etc
