Car insurance bad postcode

Hi
I've just moved to central Bimingham and im shocked by how much my car insurance will go up. I.e i was paying £400-500ish in Shrewsbury (small marke town) how in Birmingham cheapest quote ive had is just over £1000!!!!!!!!! For the same vehicle, i know there are added risks in a city so i expected to pay a bit more but more than double!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know any insurance companies that specialise in dodgy postcodes, liek the ones that specialise in young drivers? Or anyone have any other tips for bringing the price down?

Not everywhere they havent, my new car - same engine size similar cost etc is less than the old one was

Mine went up to near £300 with Tesco, but i managed to get it for £230 with Direct Line. Shop about for the best price.

I lived in B16 (the nice part...honest) and both the Post Office and Admiral were the cheapest by far. Moved to Edinburgh and it slashed in half, still with Admiral now, despite their attempts to try and ramp prices up at renewal we got a lot of quotes and then called them back and they beat them easily...worth the hour or so of looking around.

Ahh i live B16, by Brindley Place! Small world. Just been doing some quotes with Admiral directly (already with them), and can get insurance down to £750/850ish......which im pretty happy with.

**Although insurance is still about £400 at my old postcode

my first quote this year was £650 and I managed to get it down to less than £400 with shoppin around. Although 2yrs ago, my insurance cost was only £275 (no change-same car, post code etc etc)

tesco through tesco compare were the cheapest find (500 clubcard points earned too)

Probably due to an increase in insurance fraud in your area.

That's just it though, B16 borders Ladywood, Winson Green and the City Centre aswell as some not so good areas of Edgbaston etc, so unfortunetly because of high crime in general in those areas you'll be screwed, also on house/flat insurance.
