Car Respray Cost (And Any Recommendations??)

Looking at getting my Toyota MR2 Roadster resprayed. Its currently silver, but will be a different colour (undecided at the minute). Its having new front and rear bumpers which are already primed.

Any ideas on a rough price for this? The car is pretty much immaculate at the minute (no rust, dents etc) so I dont think there would be much prep work.

Also can anyone recommend any bodyshops in the East Midlands?

    Cheers,

    Shane

    all depends really

could be anything from £1000 to £5000

Yep, loadsamoney. If you find somewhere cheap you'll know it when the jobs done.

    And silver is wrong because......................?

Do you know what's involved in changing the colour of a car ? and the amount of work involved in all the areas that need done - including inside doors, bonnet, boot etc etc and it'll always look like a respray.

If you want advice - I'd say DONT. Cheaper and better to sell it and buy the colour you want.

Sorry if that's not what you wanted to read! : = )

Can I ask why a respray if it is immaculate? if the respray money was spent on other items, wheels etc maybe the colour wouldn't be an issue (I assume the colour is the reason fo the respray)

As above changing the colour is a huge job and probably not worth it these days.

Regardless of current condition of your bodywork, it will still need to go down to bare metal, which will involve many hours of work, You can soon tell where someone has skimped on the prep work.

    Keep it silver!
Spraying bumpers is a couple of hundred pounds! I respray is thousands.

Possibly more, silver suggests to me its a metalic paint which requires alot more preperation before spaying.

Also if you are gonna change your paint to a metalic, flecked, irredesant colour you are running into alot more again!
Its a massive job so you will prob be without your car for a week or 2 aswell!

Cant help with a garage, only know them down south! My OH does this for a living!

A friend of mine resprayed his astra for £800 (full re-spray) and did a fantastic job.. £5k for a respray LOL worth more than the car?!?!

I didnt say there was anything wrong with silver (Thats why I bought a silver one in the first place!), but I fancy something a bit different (not decided on the colour yet but it wont be something you can buy!).

The amount of time isnt an issue as its the summer car and Im hoping to get it all done and sorted before April/May time.

I've had two quotes since posting this. Once from an accident repair centre at £1400+ dending on any work needed to get the new bumpers to fit properly, and one from the local bodyshop at £2000-2500 depending on colour/style.

Gonna ring a few more in the new year once I have the actual bumpers and take it from there.

    Thanks for the replies

Keep it silver and have some nice detailing done on it!

You may LOL at £5k for a respray but try getting it done PROPERLY for much less.

£800 is a joke and you will be able to tell a mile off that its an £800 respray.
