Car Service from main dealer

Hi, my BMW 5 Series is up for servicing. It has done 84000 on clock and is a 62 plate. Is it a good Idea to get this serviced from main dealer or other garage? Thanks for your reply and suggestions

I think this would depend on whether the car currently has a full main dealer history. If it does, then keeping that record intact will marginally increase the value and desirability of your car. Otherwise, and also if you are planning on keeping it for years to come, a reputable BMW independent would be my choice. BMW labour rates are ridiculously high.
No point getting it done in main dealer IMO, the car isnt probably not worth much at that age now and an all dealer servicing wont make it a higher enough value at selling time to justify it. When I got my BMW serviced it was over double what my local garage charged

Also, in my experience, main dealers are also careless, they overfilled my car when doing the oil change. If you can, find out what needs to be done and do it yourself if you can, that's if you're willing to keep the car instead of selling it.

Depending on the model it's worth good money, my mate sold his 12 plate 535d M sport 80k for £12k a few weeks ago.

OP what model is the car out of curiosity? Has it got full BM history to start or a mixture? As above if it's not already full BM just go to a normal garage.

Also agree, and in particular Mercedes dealers have always been the worst of any of the dealers I have used.
Search around for an independent BMW specialist and check their reviews.

You should save some £ but they won't be dirt cheap

BMW 525D and has a mix history.

If its mixed just use a local garage, if it was full then year do the main dealer. It should be in the idrive the previous services anyways is it, as they dont stamp books now.
You'll more than likely get it done for half the price at a regular garage, spent the extra cash on some Pasta and toilet rolls
