    car service - vw polo

Looking at getting the VW Polo serviced. Not in a rush but thought with the cold weather it would be good to keep it in shape. Does anyone know any good offers for service (dont need MOT)?

    Thanks

I think it'd help if you gave your area?

Well first I would start with your baseline figure of cost. In this case it would be going direct with VW which is £159 for a minor service and £329 for a major. The pro's on this is genuine parts being used and a stamp in your service book which may help with selling your car. This would mainly apply to a fairly new car though.

Skoda would be the next option as it will still be genuine parts, (VW own Skoda), but generally Skoda servicing is cheaper.

You could do a lot worse buy using Halfords Autocentres who are only charging £149 for a full service.

I own an Audi and the last three ocassions of requiring work we have used Halfords. Each time they were better on price, time scales and always really helpfull. That's coming from somebody who used to work on cars.

I'm sure there may be a comment who say Halfords are bad but It is like everything though, the service is only as good the the mechanic doing it. However unless you know a friendly mechanic it worth sticking to a bigger name.

I know a guy that will do a full service for 50p + parts.

Find a local recommended guy who is always busy .
He will be competitive and avoid main dealers and big chains, like Halfords, that would be my advice

my family have disowned me and you guys are the only friends I have.

You could try a site like whocanfixmycar.com where you post a job and local garages provide you with quotes, it also has reviews.

Think most dealerships offer winter car checks for under £50.
