I usually get my car audio gear from the above sites.

Wiring is dead simple, you just need an ISO harness adaptor for your specific car and an aerial ISO adaptor. You may also need a fascia adaptor depending on your car. On some units, you need to run a cable from the positive battery terminal to the head unit to power the internal amplifier (e.g. the 9812RB). On these type of units, you also screw a wire from the head unit to the chassis for a ground connection. That's pretty much it. It sounds a lot harder in writing than it is in practice. It's really not hard at all, halfrauds charge £40 (i think) for doing this.

If you need any help, give me a shout.

Edit: The cd-changer is just as easy to install. You just connect the "Ai-NET" cable (for Alpines) from the CD changer to the back of the headunit. The cd-changer model number is Alpine CHA-S634.

Do you *need* a cd changer? I had a Ford CD6000 and a Sony CD boot changer, TX-67 i think it was, but have opted for Sony CDX-GT410 which can take a USB stick, MP3/WMA/etc CDs as well as a front aux socket
With the addition of having to buy a double din bracker, and the iso harness i sold my old kit for £100 and this covered the cost of the new one

Not sure i'd go back to boot/cd changers again

Alpine mate...theyre the dogs

No probs mate. If you want something a bit lower priced, check out the Alpine 9856R.

My advice is to go for the best head unit that you can reasonably afford. It will be the heart of your system. You can have the best amps and speakers in the world but a poor head unit will not do them any justice.

This may sound daft, but a lot of modern cars have the wiring already installed in the boot to take a CD changer. May be worth having a look, then go on ebay and pick up a second hand one. You never know.

The only problem is that your head unit would stay the same.

just put one of these in my car,
the sound is spot on and crystal clear also has a built in amp and takes a usb drive and ipod.
you dont need a boot changer as you will get more mp3's on one disc alone than a boot changer can do on 6(unless its mp3 compat of course)

How about this?
caraudiocentre.co.uk/pro…htm

It has quad illumination, so presumably it changes colour.

The 9856R mentioned above also changes colour, it has dual illumination.
