Caravaning this weekend! So excited, had to share

Well, we have bought a caravan after months and months of looking and this weekend (tomorrow) we are going for the weekend. Are there any fellow caravaners out there that could pass on some hints and tips. A friend told us the other day that you take your bowl and do your washing up in a special room at the site, even though i have a sink in the caravan! Mad but apparently thats the way? We have three kids as well so I'm hopeing that they are going to enjoy it too. Anyone else going caravaning this weekend?

Never heard of that before. You wash up in your own caravan. They have special sinks for people that are camping, i wonder if that's what she means? Anyway you will love it i'm sure.

I suppose you would meet more people at the communal sinks. Maybe thats why. Never been a caravanner. Hope you have got towing under your belt ok.
Sure you will have a good time.

We used to do our washing with the tenters, as the water was hot and free! Think hard about where you pitch, if you've a choice, you don't want to be in between the pub and the loos late at night! Have a super time, we're thinking of getting a caravan, but it'll be a few years away.

Hi, they have a camper van so they have got a sink but they still go to this room, even more important it's meant to be the men that do it so I will be sending my other half out to do it :-D

Richard is great at towing so that's one less thing to worry about. Maybe they prefer you to use communal sinks, Im hopeing it's not compulsary. I have a sink and I want to use it..even if it is washing up..he he.

Are there any benifits to having a caravan?

You will never be homeless and you don't need a mortgage.

Hi, thanks, yes we will be careful where we pitch, thanks for the advice. I don't think they would appreciate us moving in the middle of the night :-D

Thanks, we have already joined the club  I will take a look at there site.

If you have electric hookup always plug in or unplug at the caravan first and the mains last!

My 5 year old says "drive carefully with the caravan on the back and your children will love it. I like getting the water from the tap in the big roll, but Mummy helps me pull it back as it's very heavy!"

It's the sense of freedom you don't get on other holidays

Thank you for your valued advice I will get my boys 2 and 3 to help me with the water

No need to use the sinks on the site, use your own if you wish.

    Have a great time.

Get it chipped/clamped and locked up when in storage if you know any friends or family who work for the MoD ask about storing your caravan on one of their sites. It's about £100 a year for secure storage.

    Did you enjoy your break?

    Yes, loved it!

Not trying to be rude, Im sure you do, but please look behind you now and then. I and 20 other cars were stuck behind a caravan for what should have been a 15minute trip that took 30-40. Only a few cars managed to overtake on the country roads. Incidentaly, we were too late for our appointment which was extremely annoying. have a nice hol tho.

sorry, just realised you just came back, hope it wasn't you infront of me! lol.

Do people live in Caravans permanently, like they do in America?
