Havent received this yet. Am sure it is meant to be sometime this month though.
In the paper the other day it said that people in receipt of certain benefits will receive it automatically & they should get it soon.

yeah hope so my boys got a £10 bonus each in with their dla payment in december, so thought it would have been paid around the same time :?

Its £50... the total is £60 but you already had £10 (xmas bonus) they are topping that up to a total of £60, will be in you January money.

    I don't care!

But my missus does! I noticed she had an envelope from DLA a couple of days ago. She never mentioned what it was. I guess I now know!

Ours runs out April 2010. I'd imagine it will go down from middle to low. Wont be too happy about that! Not looking forward to filling the form out either.

i am going to use an advisor next time. Found a good one locally helped with my mum recently so he offered to help. The forms are a minefield and i hate doing them. Im sure my son should be on higher care but they said if i asked for a reassessment the i could lose the mobility element which the advisor tells me is rubbish...you can ask for one element reassessed.

oh it gets me upset everytime i read my sons but it sounds much worse after they have nit-picked every facet of his personality. My son has Noonan syndrome.

He is only 6 and they have already said he will be in special schooling for life and will need support, etc as an adult...........

aww im sorry..my son is also 6 is mainstream with 5 hours special a week. I think he has autistic tendancies and he is hyperlexic (very cute aspect of his disability-cant keep a secret from him-he reads all me mail!)

If yours has moderate difficulties how come he is in special school?

well my youngest got diagnosed with asd 2 years ago when he was 3 now & i had a lady from specialist nursing come round to help me fill in the form, but i think i was in denial still then. then my 7 year old son got diagnosed with asd last october after we could see definite similarities between the 2 boys & i just filled the dla form in online for him by myself & he gets more money even though my youngest has to go to a specialist school :?

Reading things like this makes me realise how lucky I really am.

Good luck with all those carpy forms, hope you get it sorted soon

tbh i don't think that you can tell at the age of 6 what kind of support they will need as an adult, so fingers crossed for you that he can lead a happy & independent adult life

i fill my forms out online. my 6 yr old has asd, adhd, plus medical issues and has a gastrostomy tube and bowel problems. i was never offerred help but our problems seem to speak for them selves. i find it easy online but find it so depressing to have to point out all the bad parts of our life.

you can get the youngest reassessed? i would. We got high mobility and medium care. He isnt in a wheelchair or anything-he just has problems with spatial awareness and was small so couldnt manage stairs so well. The advice i got was thati could claim if my child wasnt reaching what the average child milestones are..if that makes sense! I dont know what we will get next time as he is older now...it helps though as he is a handful and i gave up work to lok fter him!

yeh i second that-in my experience a lot of these specialists are carp...we were told son's features were familial-after they measured and weighed me and o/h-then when he was 3 a genetecist diagnosed him-just from his notes! we were really messed about-it was clear to us something wasnt right!

that's what i've got to do now - redo his dla forms
both of them get low for mobility as they can walk but will run off & have no awareness of roads, etc. i think my 7 year old must get high for care & my 5year old must be on medium because the eldest gets about £70 more a month than the youngest :? maybe he got a lower rate as he was only 3 at the time & they compare to what care a typical 3 year old would need?

dunno how they figure it...if they give you low mob again fight it. Its a lot of £ and worth a try.

didnt know anything about this bonus,,will have to check when carers allowance goes in bank in 2 weeks time

Did you mean to say "Career" ?

we get high care for both of ours ansd low mobility for eldest. youngest doesnt need it as she is just tube fed with tummy issues, lots of care but can walk.

jack can walk although wont when he is being tubed as is scared of hurting his tummy. he also runs off has no sence of danger. if he saw something over a road he would just go.

do you have major buggies, we have one for jack.

jack also needs to know everything, he will keepo asking untill he gets a decent answer, he also has no sense of tone he takes jokes as serious. a guy once said be good or ill out you on the top shelf. well jack was terrified and for two hour went on and on about it.

    do you have an medications.

    jack also doesnt sleep

i was lucky (?) as son is small he can still fit in a regular size at age 6 although we havent used it in almost a year now as he seems better(longer legs!)

my 7 year old takes everything literally, he goes to mainstream school & the head told them before christmas "don't eat too much" so we had problems with him not eating until we found out why he wasn't & explained to him that the head was joking :-(
