Carling lager is 'weaker than advertised', but "Molston Coors said Carling customers have not been misled."

Found 26th Aug 2017
Molston Coors have been lying to their customers for five years by labelling Carling Lager as being 4% ABV when in fact it is really 3.7% But it's OK, and they haven't been misleading customers because the law allows it. Doesn't really affect me because I think the stuff is vile and I never drink it, but I'm amazed by their brazen, and arrogant, contempt for their customers.

LOL you've clearly never played a multiplayer game on a Saturday night. Pensioners drink in pubs, everyone else has better places to be.

Yes, we get it; you think those that enjoy video & computer games are anti-social.

Didn't say I was right did I ? Just my view - am I not allowed to have a personal view ? Funny how touchy gamers are - maybe feel I'm right ? Every time I comment on the gaming community (when replying to a comment ) said community is up in arms - Why ? I play golf which is time consuming , sociable and good exercise . You don't see golfers coming on here passionately defending their pastime - we don't need to . As I've said many times, each to their own .

And what might I ask have my comments got to do with "trolling " which you should grow up and try to understand - Do you understand "Trolling " as it is thought of today ? No I thought not !
But I suppose trolling to your juvenile mind is posting anything you disagree with . Don't think you have done the Gamer community any favours with that comment - Sort of proves my point - Cheers

OK, we agree.

Your view is just that, but stated as fact at every opportunity you can find to dismiss others. "Each to their own" is not the impression I have from your comments. If that were the case, why mention it at all after the first occasion?

Also, why would you feel the need to define your chosen pastime?

Didn't Mark Twain's observation capture the thoughts of those not interested in that activity?

According to EU laws relating to the labelling of alcohol, products are allowed an ABV tolerance of +0.5% or -0.5% on products between 1.2% and 5.5% ABV.

So that should mean that HMRC could also claim that the strength is actually 4.2% and therefore higher taxes have to be paid.

But I might actually question the validity of the law on another ground.

If it can be proven that it is 3.7% then any such variation should be considered invalid because proof has no variation and therefore any advertising based on proof can be and should be accurate.

I abhor the flippant use by juveniles of the word "Troll" , maybe they don't know anyone who has been trolled - it is a very serious issue - maybe those who fling the accusations around are real "Trollers" themselves ?

I'm far too thick skinned and content in my life to be bothered by "Trollers" but sadly I know many cases of children who have been really harmed by it - and of course we have all read of suicides being caused by said trolling .

So it isn't flippant and it shouldn't be acceptable for sad juveniles to throw out the word when they can't construct a better comment . That annoys me .
Gamers don't annoy me - but as displayed tonight , suggest socialising as an option to a gamer and their juvenile reply is to call the comment "trolling " . I find that sad , very sad .

To troll simply means to start quarrels by posting off topic comments:

I think you're thinking about online harassment or cyber bullying.

To be fair the fact you have so many likes to your comment "you've obviously never played a multiplayer game on a Saturday night " as a form of socialising shows I am not in friendly territory here .

Thanks for the concern but my drinking buddies , golfing buddies and workmates are all fine (and may or may not be avid gamers).

My view of socialising ,by the way , is NOT knocking back 10 pints of beer on a Saturday night , rather 2 or 3 pints with mates (male and female) for a couple of hours watching the footie or whatever , you don't have to blow £80 + to have a sociable evening , that is worse than gaming TBH .

So frequently ? when was the last time I had a bitch about gamers ? Frequently implies every couple of days , every week . When in fact its probably once every 2 or 3 months at most .

Why do I bitch ?

HUKD is flooded with gaming deals which invariably go hot often for the same price from a different supplier , they even go hot when comments show said game can be obtained cheaper elsewhere !

My conclusion : HUKD gamers vote any gaming deal hot whether its a deal or not thus swamping the whole site with "non deals" . As a long term HUKD member I feel obliged to point such anomalies from time to time .

Now gamers must know this too , so why are gamers so touchy ?

...and, as we have discussed many times already, a "Deal" is not restricted to just the price.

You could also consider the fact that many video/computer game-related threads are submitted by the same subset of members, often members directly associated with this site, &/or voting on "Deals" may not a fair process.

Can only agree with that - and it is certainly not restricted to gaming deals . Maybe it often seems that way to me as there appears to be so many "Hot Deals" - voted hot I presume by HUKD members - for the same game at similar prices ,swamping the site .

Maybe the HUKD gaming community could "self police" and not mindlessly "sheep vote" all gaming deals hot ? This would also help novice gamers know which is a good deal and which isn't ?

Also my old chestnut ! Why not double or triple the weight of a vote if it is accompanied by a comment (whether positive or negative ) .This would make this site so much more helpful , I realise HUKD just wants as many "Hot Deals" as possible to increase referral fees , but you don't have to be a contributing member for long to realise the (purposely ?) built in flaws , particularly ,I'm afraid ,in the gaming category . Which is why I have a vent of my spleen every now and again .

Guilty as charged - so it is a bad thing to inform folks of the correct way to spell Brakes or Lose ?

Do it on a job application , for instance , could mean you won't get the job . If one person takes notice of such posts (and I've done it much more than once) its well worth it - not taking the Mick - just informing - you should try being helpful too.

And thank you for your interest in my posting history , hope you've learnt something .
